off i mean( although the other has some attraction)

36v motor arrived these are the pictures of my jigsaw puzzle
on the back of vbox connections are:
motor +
motor -
sensor+
sensor -
the connections in the motor are
motor
motor
sensor
sensor

now i assume (though one should never assume) that the red and black wires on the motor are a give away as to + and - (ie red= + and black= -)
as for the sensor connections on the motor, they are grey and white, which is which.
as for the cable i use i take it, it will be a normal run of the mill 4core from b&q

btw in instructions it say's reed switch may burnt out due to miss wiring ?

Just make sure your reed switch goes to the appropriate connections on your v-box (not the motor terminals). Doesn't matter which way round.

(Don't let Miss Wiring anywhere near it :D )

If the dish moves left instead of right, reverse the motor connections.

Yes, that should do it, after all the reed switch is only a simple on/off switch, will probably be isolated from ground, although you could check with an ohmmeter.

I have an optical sensor, which needs an earth return for the +5V.

A reed switch is a little contact in a glass tube.By it is a rotating wheel with a button magnet. For everyturn of the wheel the magnet pulls the contact over and it makes and breaks the contact, once for each rev. These are counted up for the positions .Simple.If it works backwards just reverse the motor feeds on your positioner.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

Be sure that once you have the motor moving smoothly, and in the right directions, that you set the two limit switches. The VBox cannot tell when something is preventing the dish from moving, and it will almost certainly break something.
