I'm losing my mind! Please help

Does anyone know where chavo can download a tarball for any of the cams for a manual installation? I think this is the only thing that will get him going at this stage.
Normal manual installation of cams can be a bit difficult for beginners...

I have a cunning plan! I will take my router and my dream box to my mums, plug it in to her net connection and use the blue button method! will it all work without a dish? (no chans obviously) but will it all install and download? do i need to change any settings in the dream box or is the image all ready to start the download?

On the flip side if i download from that site "MgCamd 1.24 for The Gemini Project" and place the contents a "tar.bz2" file in to the var folder? or is it in a temp folder on my dreambox?

The download has nothing to do with the dish, so it should work.
If you got a maxvar image, you can install several cams.
Just remember to download a cam and a cam config (each)

When you want to install tars, just place them in the var/temp folder, then use the blue button for manual installation.

Ok thanks TG i will try it toight. I am using the Gemini image, The MGcam EMU and the Satan Key bundle.

I know it wont work as I know i am doing something wrong but i dont know what! when i downloaded the MGCAM it was about 8 files in size but when i down load from _http://www.rdi-dreambox.com/showfile...500/Emulators/ there is only one file and it is a tar ball thing.

The tar ball is just a compressed file archive. When you run the manual install routine through the blue panel it unzips it and puts all the files in the right place automagically

Most emus can be downloaded as .tar files from i-have-a-dreambox.com (IHAD)

Many of the downloads on DreamboxWorld are zip files

ok i have downloaded MGCam 1.24 for the gemini project it is a tar ball.
I have also got the satankey bundle also in a tar ball. i have put them in

/var
/tmp
/var/bin

then i press the blue button go to cam, click manual install, navigate to where i put the tar ball but there is nothing there!!!!! RAHH! for the record i think i have gemini 3.60 but that will make no diff.

Please help me!!! where do i put them? how do i load them! what am i doing wrong!

What flavour of tar file is it? Some images require a tar.gz2 or .tbz2 I think it may be.

however i have discovered i can install addons via the DCC program but it has to be a TAR.GZ

I cant find the EMU in that format, can anyone else?

IHAD emu files are in tar.gz format

FTP the tar.gz file into /tmp

Install from blue button > addons > manual install

I just downloaded and tested with MGcamd 1.25 from IHAD.

I would like to say a massive thank you I got there in the end.
I put gemini v4 on got the TAR.GZ file and popped it in and it worked, before i had v 3.40 and they were not appearing.

I switched to 19e went to premier sport portal and bingo!
Problem is now I cant actually find the sport portal channels! does anyone know what they are named as when you scan for chans? are there any sites that have cham lists saved that i could upload in order to cut out some of the duplicates and dross chans?

Couldnt find any mature content either... wife wasnt happy... ahem.

Nice going. To find the premiere sports channels, go to the Sport Portal and then press on the green button on remote. Same for the Premmierè Direct.

You can download pet settings from the blue button :-) (opnce you got connected). Other than that the IHAD site has everything that is in the blue button for regular download. But it is easy just to scan for it, and then organise everything using the Dreamboxedit program (see Guide for details).

That is true however i cant find any (real mature content that is) they are just a picture and a telephone number!!

I think Taquilla on 19 has a few dedicated channels of mature content. Premiere has about 5, there is Beate Use which is mostly soft mature content. Multivision on 13 east is also full of filth in the late evening.
The same is on Hispasat. Just do a scan and then start zapping
