Lines that could almost be interference on any other medium.

Its a Finepix F31fd camera, with small XD Fuji film (128M:cool: card.

Not having scaned the manual completely, I may have the wrong settings on still pictures (movies appear to be fine).

Any ideas ?

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Looks like a special effect to me, if there's an effects menu in the settings, you might want to go through it and turn them off... :)

I've formatted the card and 'reset' the camera to factory conditions. Lines appear with flash on and off.

Will have a look through the maual but it's going to be a slog (and too large to upload here).

Do you get the same effect showing on the viewing screen?

My little pocket snapper started to go wrong during the summer holidays where some photos would exhibit a horizontal line fault. This was on both the screen and the resulting picture. Taking the battery out and resetting would sometimes effect a very temporary cure.

In the end I bought a new camera and took the opportunity to upgrade (longer zoom, faster processor, better quality of photo and video, etc).

Attached is a section from a view of the Gorges of the Ardeche with the problem clearly (!) visible.

I was going to ask next about batteries

I've seen a pocket TV (remember those lol) where the picture would go like a cross between the 2 pictures posted here after it had been on for a few minutes, it turned out to be failing rechargeable batteries to blame but thinking about it, it can't be batteries if movies are fine

Paul / Smoggy, many thanks

It was/is the battery, or at least the amount of charge within.

I used an external charger (Vivitar universal ) overnight and the battery fully charged after about three hours.

Now the camera is behaving itselfView attachment 60943 Dell1.JPG tself

Hope that it is the answer for you CH and not just a coincidence.

Having said that I have a few batteries for the old camera, maybe I'll try some swaps...
