...To supply and fit a 1m motorised dish (I'll buy my own Dreambox). But before you install I'd like you to do a site recce please to confirm I can see 28.2E. Houses behind mine have Sky dishes on them but I'm nervous about the M A S S I V E trees at the end of my garden (actually: the end of my neighbour's garden, or I'd've taken a chainsaw to them already). I'm pretty sure if we put a dish on my garage roof that'd point to the side of the trees for Sky but I'd like that confirmed first!

What's happened to the original installer ?

I tried to send private message but I couldn`t some reason.
Thanks for your quick answer. We set up an motorized dish with my hungarian friend (he went back to Hungary and will be there for 2 months at least, I don`t waant to wait until he is back if it is not necesary). The dish pointed to thor, astra satellites (from west 4 degree to east 28.2 degree) and we can see several channels via my dreambox. Saturday`s night we were watching it all the channels were all right but the next day when I switched on it the signal streight was jumping up and down and didn`t show anything on the TV at all.
I don`t think it is a big deal to fix it, just need the right equipment to do it. What I don`t have unfortunately.
I live in Aylesbury at HP21 and upstairs, my dish is above the white main door (please take a look at google map), usually the installations is that site of the buildings in my location due to the clear view to the satellites.
In case if you can help me can you tell me how much is it going to cost for me? contact me if you need any info.

My dish location is on my flat (first floor maisonette) under my window and above the main entrance (white) door. As you can see my private message my postcode, and in Google street view.

I just took some photo about my dish I will make some just ask what you need to see exactly on it.
I do not have any special tools (digital meter or signal checker), just spanner etc. unfortunately :mad:

From those I would guess that you have rarely, if ever received channels from anything West of true South as the angle to the dishes pointing to a well known satellite next door don't match up, in my opinion.

To the credit of your original installer, he has attempted to fix the cheap mount to one position by a chain, but therein lies the main issue.

You appear to have bought a package based on pricing, but unless the bracketry behind the actuator is changed for something decent, you will suffer from a problem each time the wind picks up.

What was offered in your original order of kit ?
Did the system include a years guarantee ?
Did you pay by credit card ?
Do you have a receipt/guarantee that includes detail of equipment origin/suitability.
Any conditions on replacement/refunding based on defective / suitability for use ?

Your installer would probably have mentioned much of the above when fitting it, hence the chain, but your quarrel, and any update for long term reception lies with the supplier.

Anything can be replaced of course when you get somebody in to assess/repair, but you will be left with some scrap metal and yet another bill to pay, when it should have been right when it was first delivered.

It`s me again :-)
What I bought it was dish with LNB, and later I bought a dreambox. My original box what I don`t like due to it was hard to use and understand how works properly (finding channels etc.) I just sold out.

The installer brought everything with him when he fixed it. I was asked him to fixed with the chain to the wall because I got a previous experience with S*y dish which is still on my flat (this was installed to the top of the roof ??? rather than on the side of the building just like other residents in our block) which isn`t pick up any signal when is windy due to there isn`t any fix method on it. That is the reason of the chain. I know it should like this but I haven`t got any better idea.

The chap who done the job on my dish is an installer back at home and I trusted him (what shouldn`t do it?!).

I will be honest I am a little bit upset and desperate because I am not quite sure that is this system will work again or somebody available to repair it to me sometimes. My wife will kill me that for sure ...

So what do you think about that? Is there anything what we can do about it?!

You *could* get away with proper realignment and ensuring all bolts are tight etc. If you want it done properly then a nice T&K bracket will solve your problems - but does mean more holes in your wall.

Hi , may i suggest by the way you describe the fault , it could be just something very simple like a disconnected cable somewhere .
Soo , just disconnect and check all the cables if they make contact properly .
