I got the Wixey digital angle gauge/inclinometer. Neat little gadget. Off out now for a mess around. :-thumbup

Hi,
Let us know how you get on :-carrot

What angle finder did you get Excalibur?

Is it more accurate than a spirit level?

Just bought one, if anyone else is interested, please use the ebay link in the post and paste the item number into the search frame, as it helps to fund the forum. :)

I normally use a spirit level, or inclinometer, but as John says, irregularities in the mast surface can make for some interesting readings. :)

Got mine this afternoon, you still need a spirit level, as the true horizontal plane needs to be found, so you sit it on the level and press the zero button and then you are set. :) Very strong magnetic base, so will sit on the mast securely and it comes with a little pouch as well. :)

a silly thing but can it be used sideways on a pole to align t&ks up etc or is it just for horizontal stuff ?

Yes, that's what it's for, that's why I mentioned the strong magnetic base for attaching to the pole. :)

In fact it is predominantly designed for setting the angles on circular saws etc, but does this job well.

Hi,
Quick question.
Just picked a wixey angle finder up.
Once you've calibrated it to the horizontal, does it stay true with constant use, and if not how often do you need to re-calibrate it?

I ask, as i'm wondering whether to invest in a decent spirit level, or just borrow one for the purpose of setting it up.

Regards.

It appears to, as I haven't checked mine since my last post and it is still set. You would have to make sure not to accidentally press the zero button. :)

Had mine for a while, use it for all sorts of things, brackets, bending sheet metal, on a milling m/c, seems to stay calibrated, not had to replace battery yet but would not expect it to change :)
