Ive just moved into the area and require the installation of a Motorised dish potentially on the chimney of a 2 story house.
I've not purchase any of the equipment yet but will do unless convinced otherwise.
Am thinking of getting a 1 meter
Orbital motorised dish kit Technomate TM2600 motor and a Twin
Technomate LNB and a dreambox 800 HD.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks

Andy

I don't cover that area Andy, but look very carefully at the size and condition of the chimney before considering mounting a 1m dish on it.

Is there any particular reason you are thinking of installing it on the chimney?

Yes - we have already had one member have a chimney stack go through his conservatory roof this year thanks to a satellite dish mounted on the stack! :D

theres no particular reason other than it does not look good at the front of the house. i suppose i could live it it wall mounted to the rear of the house with a long pole as i dont want my chimney or my neighbours come crashing down.
I would also consider a 90cm but the guy from satellite oneline said this would be adequate for my needs and ensures i get a strong signal.

Thanks

A 1m dish on a chimney stack is a very bad idea. Unless a structural engineer was able to certify that it could take the load easily, it is not advisable. As Rolf said, there's a thread here somewhere, where the dish was brought down, chimney and all.

In most cases, a pole on the back wall is able to get the arc for a motorised dish without too much compromise.

I have replied to your post in my thread, your account needs PM priveleges to be able to PM me, but it is an area I cover for motorised installations.

Dish size need ,depends mainly on which satellites you particularly want. A Hirschmann 85cm aluminium performs well for its size, as its a good quality dish.
