the equipment you need to "get" a sat is: a suitably sized dish pointing at it, an LNB, cables, and a suitable receiver/decoder.
The kind of LNB you need (eg ku-band, c-band) as well as the kind of receiver (analogue? digital?) and decoder (if any) is all dependent on which channels you want to receiver from the sat(s).
Extras such as motor, or multiple LNBs/switches/etc are dependent on how many sats you want to be able to switch between.
You can find full details of satellites, where they are, which kinds of signals they transmit, encryption methods etc at various sites such as http://www.lyngsat.com
