Advice Needed Internet via Satellite with UK IP

Hi, has anybody on fringes ever tried twoway broadband over satellite (19,2/23,5/28,2) wit a UK IP address. Seems to me, that it should be lot faster than SmartDNS or VPN (and more expensive) and also a lot more reliable.

I would appreciate any tip as which Provider to use, what packages etc.

I looked into it briefly the end of last year as its looks like fibre is never going to come up the lovely little valley I live in.

If you are a heavy user the costs are horrendous, so I dropped the idea

In the UK there are a number of site to site broadband distributors set up for far flung locations, there a one or two in the Ribble Valley near me have been around for years

I assume mickwig wants a uk ip for streaming uk content - if so you need one of the top plans as a 20 0r 30 gig plan isnt going to last very long....

You can just use a normal ISP and a UK based VPS server if your using it for streaming, definately cheaper than satellite broadband.

What I have done is to set my Home Broadband router up to accept a VPN connection from me when I am abroad using wi-fi on campsites.
I logon to the Campsite wi-fi and then open a VPN connection to my home router which then gives my laptop a UK IP address, Now I can use iPlayer abroad but dont forget the download usage on the laptop is also the upload on your Home router so you need superfast broadband to stream video to your laptop.
