Need to buy yet another LNB, currently have a IBU Single on the CM 1.2 but I need a Twin, I have a IBU Twin on my Gibby and was about to order another one.

But then I saw the Inverto Black Pro C120 Twin, has anyone compared this to the IBU Twin?
Was considering getting a CM C120 mount...

Rusty,

Not the specific direct comparison that you asked for but I have compared the Inverto Black Pro C120 with a couple of other C120 LNB's.

I found that on a 1.25m Unicorn prime focus dish an Invacom C120 quad LNB was approximately 0.4db higher signal level than an Inverto Black Pro C120 quad LNB as measured in EBS Pro and a satellite receiver for the signals I measured.

I also found that the older and supposedly inferior Inverto White C120 quad LNB performed almost as good as the Invacom and better than the Inverto Black Pro C120 quad LNB.

Hi --
Cant say that i,v directly compared the two ... i,v used the Inverto Black Pro C120 Twin on my 1.8 c.m.in the past and the Inverto C120 white tech before that .. and the results were good in general from both .. but i find i get better all round results from the regular IBU Twin .
I,v had issues in the past with a very small number of transponders showing weak signal strength with the Channel Master feedhorn - that are fine with regular Inverto black ultra l.n.b,s i dont know why this should be but i stopped using the c.m. feed on the 1.8 c.m. mainly for this reason ... i thought this was just happening on the 1.8 c.m. .. but its come to light recently that a similar thing was happening on the 1.2. c.m but with different frequencies ? ..... so i,v now removed the c.m. feedhorn setup that i had on that dish too - and put a IBU Single on that dish and things seem ok again. :)

Sounds like I will order another IBU Twin :) I did compare a Single/Twin/Quad and found the Twin performed the best, but these were all the IBU LNBF's, never tried anything with a C120.

Twin slightly better than single on the 1.8 dish ... I,v lost confidence in the standard c.m. /C120 feedhorn for 1.8 and1.2 dishes ... a number of modern day regular l.n.b.f,s seem to outperform it.

Apart from the potential "Longevity" nothing seems to beat that IBU LNBF Twin/Single.

If you ever move on to a prime focus dish the Invacom C120 are the best I have used with the Inverto White C120 coming in a close second. Years ago Cambridge used to have a decent range of C120 LNB's but when Invacom introduced their range of C120 LNB's Cambridge seemed to fade out of the picture.

Let's not forget the receivers that don't like them for whatever reason, Technomate TWIN I had would act like there was DECT interference on certain transponders, swapping out the BU would sort it straight away, yet the same LNB would work absolutely fine with my Alien 2 weird but true.

I won't fit anything bigger than this CM 1.2 in my garden realistically, so won't be getting a big Prime Focus. Although maybe one day if move, just need to find a rich Woman first :)

Satellite tuners that work very well with the Inverto Black Ultra 0.2 100cm & 88cm for Feeds & DTH transponders,
Edision Primo S2 HD
Amiko A4K UHD
TM6902HD Super
TM5502HD
TM5402HD M3
AZBox Premium+

Some problems encountered with very strong DTH transponders with these satellite tuners this gives rise to no signal due to signal overload,
Octagon SX-88 HD
TM5402HD M1
TM5302HD
Spiderbox HD9000
Spiderbox HD9900

No problems encountered with feeds on any receiver using the Inverto Black Ultra 0.2 :):Y
I have found that the single Inverto Black Ultra 0.2 is slightly better than the twin output version but if you have a big dish you will not notice the difference.

Updated re the SX-88.

Interesting you have the SX-88, I bought the Edision the other day, very similar design so should work well with that.

Absolutely pulling my hair out today deciding what dish to put on what box, which box has what motor etc.

Gibby is 1m and can go approx 65e-65w, CM is 1.2m but goes about 46e-30w
Gibby currently has the IBU Twin and the CM 1.2m has the IBU Single, I also have 1x Zone 1 up with a Quad

So far I'm going to do the following, I might not need to buy a Twin for the CM 1.2m in this config.

Mutant HD51 = Both Outputs from the Gibby IBU Twin + 1x DiSEqC switch with my Zone 1 28.2e (Saves motor moving for Freesat)
Edision Primio IP S2 = CM 1.2M IBU Single + Vbox II

I bought the Edision solely to enter new birds, feed hunting and easy entry of certain things with the remote. E2 has it's limitations if you want to manually add satellites etc.

I'd love to get both dishes on both receivers but I can't find a sensible way of doing it, I tried the Loop/passthroughs on the HD51 but there is signal loss which makes the CM 1.2M receiver the same or worse than the Gibby so that's pointless.

I could put a Twin on the CM 1.2M and feed both boxes but it gets overly complicated on what box moves what dish etc.

Why someone can't make a box that allows motors to connect to different receivers is puzzling, it wouldn't be that difficult to RF tap the coax and split off all the DiSEqC commands from all boxes to a couple of outputs for VBOX's, Motors etc.

I have experienced some issues with the SX88 & the 100cm Sky News 19.2 east & Euronews HD English 13 east no signal but it works OK with the 88cm.

Surprisingly the Edision Primo S2 HD is more tolerant of high output transponders on a dish above 100cm when compared to the Octagon SX-88 the software display may be similar but the performance of the Primo S2 is much better for my requirements of feeds & DTH.

You have both then? I thought you did then I read the SX-88...
Any difference other than that between the two, the Primo IP S2 has half the ram.

Interested to know how you have your receivers and dishes connected :)

Nelson, which frequencies were "off" on the feedhorn on the 1.8? Did it vary with LNB or receiver? Will test this on mine... Using an Inverto White C120 here with decent results.

Hi - C.J.
Its at least a couple of years back now maybe three .. since i gave up using the c.m. feed on that dish .. so i don,t recall the frequencies .. there were two or three that were discovered at the time .
i remember swapping lnb,s and feeds around a lot .. and never got a sensible reason as to why it was. until these were noticed i had always been quite happy with Inverto white and/or black C120,s on that dish.
I did document it on here at the time .. i will see if i can find the thread later.

That's something I've been doing, swapping over to WF100, been doing it bit by bit.
CPC always seems to be the cheapest for me when I've bought WF100, Webro used to have an outlet on eBay I bought my cables from but they haven't put anything on there for ages! Was a cheap source at one point.

I've got far too many boxes in the cupboard! But not quite as extensive as that.

Have you noticed any signal degradation with the A/B switches?
