We will relocate soon to Vienna and previously there we had SKY UK from a dealer in Germany via and Irish address. Now we will relocate again permanently and wish to find some way to receive , either by dish or internet connection all UK and Ireland channels. This is simple for some folks who are tech minded but really I dont know where to start. Any help appreciated.

I use NTV to watch the cricket, but my internet connection is barely fast enough to make this practical. It's 15 quid or so for a month for a fairly full set of UK channels (Ireland, I don't know about).
We have a satellite setup for watching freesat, but this might be impractical where you are further to the east. You'd have to lookup (recent!) reception reports for freesat in Europe.

Hi!
I´m in Oberndorf, 87 km further to the west from your Location. Here i can see the BBC and itv channels with a 2,4 m PFA Antenna. Did you know this pages?
Astra 2 Reception Map (UK Spotbeam)
Receive British TV channels in Germany - satellitenempfang.info
Astra 2E (28.2°E) UK Spotbeam Reception – Required Dish Size Map
Sky TV Reception Advice, Dish Sizes for Sky Digital in Europe
Reception reports of the Astra 2E UK Spot beam at 28.2E
Astra 2f shifted Beam
Astra 2F Reception Reports – Astra 2
UK Spot - Extrapolated
Astra 2F Satellite
These is for the UK-Spotbeam. For the european beam you Need Peanuts like 50, 60 and for the 2 E European beam 85 cm. With some Receivers you can pick up the satback Service with the main psb channels.
But nobody knows how Long it lasts. A iptv Service is surely the better way.

Dishes: 80cm (5°W), 80cm (30°W), 60cm Zone 2 (13°E/19.2°E/28.2°E)
Receivers: HTPC w/ TBS6905 4x DVB-S2 PCIe tuner card running TVHeadend, Octagon SF8008 mini.

With Sky, all the major Irish stations (RTÉ One/RTÉ One HD, RTÉ 2/RTÉ 2 HD, TV3/TV3 HD, 3e/3e HD, be3) are on the European beam of the Astra 2 satellites, so as mentioned above - you'd easily get them with a 60cm dish.

The main UK channels are on the restricted beam that is only intended to cover the UK and Ireland, which will require a much larger dish around 2.4m.

I wouldnt worry - it will be decades before the UK's internet infrastructure is ready for everyone to have Sky delivered to 100% of the population over fibre rather than via satellite.

BT/Openreach have got to start doing fttp rather than their preferred fttc, then redo the connections to 98% of the households.....

Unfortunately we can only rely on IPTV... prior 2013, in northern Spain it was possible to catch BBC FTA channels 28.2E. After 2013, no way. I don't think good old days will come back anytime soon.
