Is it OK to paint a satellite dish and if so what type of paint to use?
I've been giving the 1.8 some TLC this week, all the brackets and steelwork has been wire brushed, cleaned and given a good coat of Hammerite so now I'm looking at the dish. It appears to me that it was originally powder coated because it has a very very slight stippled appearance but due to its age quite a few of the stipples have come off and it's very easy to remove more when cleaning the surface. I've been thinking about re-painting it, not really for asthetics but we have a high salt content in the air here and it will oxidise bare aluminium very quickly, the 1.2 has a couple of patches on it where the reflector has been got by the salt. My idea is to use white smooth finish Hammerite and put it on with a foam roller but I've no experience of painting dishes and don't want to upset anything by doing so so am looking for any comments or suggestions on what is best to use. Dont suppose anyone knows a source of M7 knurled inserts do they? A few pics of how things look so far.
