I have a SS2 running prog dvb in my pc which is working perfectly with a sg2100 motor, my question is this, I have a wireless network set up between my pc and my laptop and I was wondering if it is possible to send live video from pc to laptop and if it is possible to control prog dvb from the laptop?
Thanks,
Davie.

I believe that ProgDVB has an (optional on install) streaming server facility, and I'm sure that your laptop will run VLC or similar OK. I know mine does ;)

This is what many use to watch streamed mpeg2 O/P from the Dreambox.

Ok, Thanks, I will give it a go, I didn't want to start playing with settings untill I knew if it was possible.
What is VLC or similar?
Thanks,
Davie.

I have just been told it is not wireless between my pc and laptop, it is wired to a hub then wireless to the laptop and that I am using internet connection sharing on wired connection which causes windows not to allow the sat card and network card not to be bridged.
Does this mean it will not be possible?
Thanks again,
Davie.

I've never used the ProgDVB server (and my £&:-smallmaming SS2 has just gone on the fritz so I can't test it out for you), but play with it on the box running the SS2.

Then set up the VLC client on the remote box and point it at the network stream IP address and port of the server you set up (File/Open Network Stream).

:confused

Did you get anywhere with this?

The Internet connection has nothing to do with it, nor does MS ICS assuming that both your PC and laptop are both on the same LAN (i.e. one is not on the other side of the ICS gateway, - WAN)

Also wired/wireless will not come into it unless you are running the (by current standards) slow 'wireless B' kit. This is too slow for DVB-S video streaming, whereas wireless G is just about OK. That's what I use to stream from my Dreambox to all the other computers on my network running VLC or similar.

There are no setup differences because of wireless, just a speed limitation compared to wired (assuming your running Fast Ethernet 100mbps.... of course you are).

You don't require the sat card to be bridged - ProgDVB must do that for you (although as I say, I haven't played with it).

Got my SS2 running again now, so might have a play with this for a crack.

What you are attempting IS possible given the constraints I've listed above.

I have not got this running yet but am not giving up on it. I have a wireless G network, I get 100mbps to my desktop and 54mbps to my laptop so hopefully will be ok with that. I have been watching recorded stuff which is on the hard drive of the pc through the laptop without any problems using windows media player.
I am fairly stupid with all this stuff (it took me about 4 evenings to get my motor working) so is it possible for someone to give me a step by step guide on how to get this working please?
Thanks,
Davie.

it can be bit tricky to get this to work so lt me know how yoou get on
1. go to the settings on laptop progdvb then device options
2. click on get chanel list ( it may take a couple of tries so stick at it)
3. now you got the chanel list goto maine pc and change the chanels a few times.
4. now on 2nd pc(laptop) your have to keep changing chanels untill it starts working (can take a few miniutes just keep changing chanels it should work and make sure you have chanel playing while you keep changing chanel

Nearly there (I hope), I tried as you said but something isn't right, when I click the get channel list the picture on both screens goes very blocky and unstable and nothing else happens untill they both lock up, I did get it changing channels after I pasted the channel list from the desktop onto the laptop and then clicked get channel list but only a few times and then both lock up. Can it be that my wireless network is not fast enough? it is running at 54Mbps.
Hope this makes sense.
