I have to agree with you there CH, when watching Sci-Fi films where aliens arrive, they are always greeted by the military and secret services, with a "their our property, we found them first" mentality and unfortunately, I believe that it would be so in real life.

Nasa have a good set of pages which opens the lid on the possibility of Space Travel using the tools and fuels around us today, its depressing that the technology we have, and the ideas in many SciFi stories fall far short of what is required for travel anywhere outside the solar system
