I attach a picture of my 2 metre dish which I am using in Sweden to pick up Astra 2D. As you can see from the picture it is position right next to a tree. I wonder if the tree is influencing reception of the 2D signal in any way ?

My Satellite Setup
None
My Location
Oslo, Norway
"Sun outage" is when the satellite is directly infront of the sun
For example this will happen in Oslo the 14 October with the 2D satellite.
As well as losing your 2D signal for a few minutes, there is a very useful side- effect: any shadows caused by branches on your dish at this time indicates where the view of the satellite is obscured. Sun outage runs for about a week, so you have a chance to catch a sunny day at the right time.

You dont say where in Sweden you are living but on the following site you can find out when "sun outage" will happen in your area.

Thanks to Snap for this tip. I read it on _http://astra2d.proboards31.com/index.cgi?board=norge&action=display&thread=1185223400

if any thing is in front of your dish and the satellite in space than yes it will cut your signal down
shadows on your dish wont affect your signal

Actually I'm talking about the tree to the left of the picture. I now realise my question was unclear, not helped by the picture I attached. Hopefully this new one will help.

behind the dish then no it wont afect it but the dirt on the dish will
like most people put aerials on chimney stacks aerials nice and shiney
what comes out of chimneys SOOT and it settels on the aerial and what is in soot lead particles that reflect signal away
do your self a favour and give your dish face a good wash
if you stand behind your dish and look at where it is aimed at are there any branches in the way if no you are all right but if yes then chop them of so you have a clear line of sight between the dish and the satellite in space

Actually the trre to the left is slightly in front of the dish but not blocking the view to the satellite. I guess what I wonder is if noise from the tree could be affecting reception.
