I now have the capablity for recieving the downlink frequency using the SDR setup ..
But what to expect CH ..
Audio coms ..or sstv perhaps ?
it _should be within the QFH s resonance range .. ..and the QFH is omni directional ..
but dedicated to RHCP ..
Should have no probs with a linear broadcast ..but woul null out LHCP
So what parameters to expect ?
wfm
nfm
AM
?
bandwidth etc
cheers

Probably NFM. I'm fairly sure that was the mode used when I saw a demo some years ago.

Don't forget to allow for Doppler shift!

Sitting here waiting for the imminent pass of ISS ..with the SDR tuned to the downlink frequency ..145.800
Probably be silent as the grave ..but I can hope..
Better that than sitting outside in a deckchair staring at a heavy black cotton wool heavenly canopy ...with no breaks for starlight to peek through.
Hope you fare better at your QTH ..

Really clear here and she is going right overhead, possibly the brightest I've seen to date.

Well ..in radio terms ..that was the biggest non event I ever heard ..
Zip ..nada ..nowt..
I have recorded about 15 minutes of baseband waterfall to analyse ..but on frequency ..just static static and more static
..and not even clear enough to go outside and sneak a peek..
c'est la vie

Yep ..I swear I saw it ..but can't be sure CH ..
Travelling West to East ..twinkling as it went ..
Not directly overead ..probably a rough estimate looking South ..and declined by about 20 degrees..
Took approx 5 minutes to traverse ..
??
Would that be it ?
I wasn't watching for it but was actually looking for more perseids ..so not armed with bins..
dammit

Sounds about right then ..
declined from the overhead by about 20 to 30 degrees ..
Well ..I'm convinced
The timing was about right when I checked with Orbitron.
