ITV Anglia in Limassol

Hi all

I have just put in a 3m famaval dish for a m8 of mine in Limassol, its on top of a 5 storey building and was a piggin' nightmare!! :mad: When we eventually got in in and tuned I noticed that ITV Anglia (10.714 H) had a noise spike on the Spectrum pattern - all 4 feeds were affected to differing amounts. It wouldn't lock the transponder at all. The digibox gave no signal on the same transponder (no ITV2+1). Everything was fine including BBCs and even ITV Yorks. C4 even gave a full lock on my Satlook which is unusual these days! Before I start blaming the lnb - which I don't want to do cause it will be a pig to change. Can anyone offer up any other explanation? Like i say it is 10714 ONLY that is affected. Could a Mobile phone mast or similar cause this?

Shows you what frequencies are allocated for Europe, mobile frequencies could well be the culprit, as the 964 Mhz IF of that transponder would fall very close to one of the bands.

In car speed camera detectors have also been known to selectively knock out some frequencies. However on top of a five story building that might be less likely.

What part of Limassol mate?I bet somewhere in front of the building(even at a distance) there is a mobile phone mast.I have these problems near the four seasons area.You should also have bbc1 scotland missing(10.806h).and if bbc scotland is missing then so is radios 1,3,five live etc

Bit further away than that m8, it's near the Beachfront with starbuck's on the corner.....if you go up the street you come to the 'fountain roundabout' at the bottom of Makarious Av. You can see the fammy if you look up as you head towards the seafront. The indications given by the Satlook are very unusual....I'd be surprised if it was an LNB fault and not some sort of outside influence.

If its in the Kanika complex,I have installed 2 3m DH on diferent buildings in there and no problems with Anglia,but going just past the "zoo",the second block up the side road has a 2.7m Dh which I went to fix ch4(that dish is not for techs with a nervous disposition,someone stuck it up on top of the lift shaft 2m wide,you can see it when you drive along the seafront).Anyway i was getting a low reading on 2D and when i checked in the apartment,no Anglia or bbc scotland but central was just coming in.
Directly in front of the building was another building a couple of floors taller with a great big mast full of transmitters.Definately the cause.

Sounds like a possible cause to me m8. I'm going back to do a fine tune on Sunday, will report back then to let you all know.

Like I said....it's a friend....In any case the dish has moved in the winds last week and virtually killed BBC...can't let him down any longer.
