I was watching itv last night, it said press the red button for hd, so I did and I was presented with a black screen. I have used this service before with no problems. Is there anything wrong with my Humax foxsat HDR reciever? Or is it ITV that has the problem? Does somebody have any Ideas please, as my box is still under warranty.:confused
Thanks in advance!

Hopefully it was just a glitch.

Box reboot ought to sort it out - but if it keeps happening, that might indicate a fault.

Was it for Miss Marple? If so, there was no widespread problem 'cos we watched it in HD on our own Foxsat with no problems. Heck, I even understood the plot.

If it wasn't Miss Marple, then it is possible it was an ITV problem as they have got it wrong umpteen times since launch. Pretty dreadful system, really.

Ok.

Then I suggest you wait for the very next HD offering and see if the problem is still there: If so, it's your Box. If not, ITV were in dozy mode.

Rambo 3 is today's HD effort

Also Blue Murder at 9:00pm.

I've also just bought a Foxsat HDR. According to the Radio Times yeasterday's episode of Lewis was supposed to be Red Button HD simulcast.

This would have been my first attenpt to watch ITV HD. There was no invitation to press the red button and certainly repeated pressing bore no fruit.

One thought. I only currently have a single LNB feed. Could that my (and the OP's) problem?

I couldn't say for certain, but I suppose if your ITV Region is not of the same polarity as the ITV HD feed, it would be consistent with the Red Button being seen on the SD Regional Channel but no HD being available.

Perhaps if the fault occurs again, you could try from an ITV Region of the opposite polarity?

Trouble is, only London appears on the EPG other than your home region, so that might prove to be a busted flush!

As for the OP, he says it has worked fine before - so unless he's moved Postcodes, the potential Feed issue probably isn't the cause.

If you are still having problems try a Factory reset, this has fixed for others in the past.

And I was given the Red Button for HD option message when I switched over to Rambo so it looks like either the Radio Times was wrong or ITV didn't transmit the HD signal.

BTW pressing the red button worked fine as well.

My pre-loved Foxy has frozen twice in the year I've had it. That's about the same glitch rate as any of my other receivers. But I got it for £80, so have no complaints!

I am having the same problem with ITV hd service at the moment. BBC hd has always worked fine as did ITV red button hd until recently. What happens is you get a few seconds of the sound coming through, no vision, and then the sounds goes and you are just left with a black screen - very annoying! It seems a bit odd that a number of people are having the same problem. Could it be an ITV transmission problem?

There have been transmission related issues over the past few months, but none that I'm aware of more recently.

I suggest you try a factory reset on your box.

I suggest a factory reset, this solved my problem, and it's been good since.
