So today I fibred up my 1.8m Raven thats at the bottom of my garden, It was on 3 x 100m WF125 cables under the ground.

I was quite happy with the signal but adding more receivers was only really possible via loop out or adding a forth cable and using a Quattro - but I decided to fibre it instead.

Inside Now:

So inside, I have a 4 way optical splitter, with two Quad units at the moment providing 8 receivers with full access to the bands. Future upgrade to 16 if needed.

So what does all this mean, what are the results.. Well here we go.

Here are some channels from 10e, Weather was pretty much the same between the two scans, The top is copper, the bottom is fibre.

A more dynamic test, The temporary Formula E feed currently on 10E:

Im quite pleased with these results - I was going to be happy with identical db levels, because after all the advantage is having up to 16 receivers not 3. But the fact the db is higher is a big plus. Very pleased.

I suspect it wont inspire me to make the leap G ...
As the obscure stuff I'm after is not generally accessible in optical lnb form ..
Do they make Ka optical lnbs yet ?
For that matter ..is there a Cband fibre connected lnb out there ..?
Nice job tho Mapperuo..
expensive and impressive..
;)

I didn't see a KA or C band optical LNB on my adventures.. even just a C120 Flange one was hard to find a supplier for, Only 2-3 shops really.

Cost wise yes, pricey, About a £400 upgrade.

EDIT: On the plus side, it's opened up two unused copper lines, so I could pop some KA or C band LNBs on it now and have a play about. :D

Thats what I need to tidy up the horrible mess of numerous cables running along the fence :D

Very nice.

From the thread title I was expecting to see an old metal dish covered in home made fibreglass resin or something... :-ohmy
