I've put it up on my house today, i'll have to take it down again because i forgot to put the cables on it.

Im happy with it though, needs lowering a tad though, its swaying a little and the wind is quite calm.

Looking good...

The further down the pole the more stable it will be in the wind.

Without the cable you won't know if it works... are you trying to
receive Astra 19.2 and Hotbird 13 East?

Im putting the cable in tomorrow

Rain stopped play

Its facing south now, so im hoping to get from 19e to 30w

I set the elevation on the motor to 27, the number was in my head for some reason, is there a site i can find out what i should set it at or is there a standard for my area (Liverpool)

Cheers

What diameter is the pole Seancorky, you may need to use a 2 or 3 inch diameter steel pole for that height, unless the one you have used is a very heavy guage.

Your lattitude setting on the Moteck should be equivalent to your lattitude, probably around 53.4 degrees. (edited for wrong information)

Its 40mm, about 1.6 inch

The pole is 3m long, i think, the end of the pole is only a few inches away from the bottom bracket, so if i move the pole down a bit i think it should solve it

If not, i might have to put like a stabliser onto the roof

EDIT:

Lat:53:28:14N (53.4706)Lon:2:56:07W (-2.9352)

I'll have to change the latitude on the motor when i take it down tomorrow then

It may also be an idea to move your motor round 1 degree to the east before you set up on Thor 1 West for your due South, then the arc should be pretty much perfect. :)

No - just when I saw it I thought it was a fixed dish set-up.

Just make sure you connect to the LNB that is in line with the dish arm.

Yes - the motor should have included instructions listing the dish elevation for you latitude.

If you can find it you can check it on the web - I'll see if I can sind a site...

Try here...

I found the table now in the instructions

So if my latitude is 53.4 i set the latitude on the motor to 53.4

Which means i set my dish elevation to 23 aswell ?

Sounds about right - to check go to www.multimaps.com and put in your postcode.

Your Longitude and Latitude cordinates will be in the box below the map.

Enter these into the web page and it will calculate the dish elevation.

Good move, you should find the scaffold pole infinitely more stable. :)

Sorry to keep askin questions but i'm tryna make sure i know what im doin next time i go up on the roof

I downloaded a program someone posted on here before, found it quite interesting

I have a 1m ISS offset dish, as you probably all know

I dont have the exact sizes to use this program though, i put it as what the standard was for an offset dish, 1000mm x 900mm, i got results like this which seem reasonable

Anyone know how i could find specifications for the dish, i have tried google, and dont really want to get on the roof just to measure the dish

Im going to buy a sat meter when i get the chance, a beeping one is good i read? So im just going to move the dish around until i get a good enough signal from thor

I wont give in :p

If you cannot find the correct offset, then make a guess and find thor by trial and error, does the dish bracket not have a scale at all?
