How many members use the 1224 motor?

What size dish do you use on it etc.:)

Any one have the strengthened version?:)

I tried a 2.4M dish on one and it moved it effortlessly from 0 elevation. But it could not cope with wind and would have been damaged eventually. I think a 1.8M dish is the absolute max for exposed areas.

Crossbones,

I use one on a Precision 1.5M prime focus dish. I have had it for at least 10 years now and it still works perfectly. Its the best bit of sat equipment I have ever bought, lasted ages longer than some of my "cards"

One point though, when it comes out of the box you may need to adjust the mechanical E/W limits in the casing otherwise it will have a truncated arc. Its easy to do and instructions should be with the paperwork.

I have not heard of the "strengthened" version, what aspect of it is "strengthened" ?

Thanks for the input guys.

Orthoclipse, what was the dish made from?

moonbase, here is a pic of the stronger 1224. I was debating about mounting my C/master 1.8 on it.

But I think its too heavy and wont risk it.;)

Looks like that an additional plate that holds the Incline jack bolt to the base of the 1224, I think on or two bases have snapped as in the picture with the wind. Looks like that could be a fairly easy diy job though.
Thanks Crossbones.
BTW, I have a 1.8 Precision on a 1224, I think that would be my limit and certainly a Channel Master 1.8 would be really pushing it with the weight.

Yes I have seen the pics, very nice too;)

That metal plate does look an easy mod to do. But the

prices on that German site are very good.Humping

55kgs of "precision engineered" Jonsa steel. :)
There are some people mounting 2.4M and 3M mesh antennas on them, but the wind load would be much lower.

There used to be a sturdier version, the SMO-36 (2nd picture) but it is no longer manfactured. Satshop24 stock the KM 1012 and use a 3.7M mesh on it.

great thread with an even greater dish!

Satshop24 are out of stock of the KM 1012.

I did look at that motor when I nearly bought a prodeline 3.1m.

Also considered the Egis but out of my price range!
