Which are the best 'f' connecters to use?
The ones that came with my kit are pretty useless, the ones you screw onto the cable,i've been up to fix them a few times as they keep coming loose.
Unless i'm doing something wrong:confused

Some of them are oversize, all you need to do is put a small piece of insulating tape between the outer of the cable and the copper braid, it should then make the fit more secure.

Yes, very good, but in an ideal world, they need a special tool to fit, although it is possible with pliers. :)

Right, the problem i'm having is when i screw the f connecter on it takes all the braid off so i get a shitty signal.
Anyway round this?

There are 2 sizes [said the bloke in the shop]of screw on. Mine came loose as setting up the dish no signal for ages until I spotted the cable had come out of the receiver F con.

why not screw it on as normal as tight as you can, then insulation tape round the outside around braid and half way along metal casing

For the plug to cut all the braid off is highly unlikely.

What cable are you using ?

If it is cutting the braid when you screw the connector on, then you have probably gone the other way and made it to tight. :)

Would vaseline or something similar help it screw on easier?
Or can you not use anything like that?

No, don't use vaseline, if you require that to screw it on then it is too tight and it will make a bad electrical connection.

It must be the Wickes f connecters then that are to small. My mistake, thought that all the connecters were one size. Will go to the local sat shop and get some proper ones!!

They did come loose,i think that was caused by me ty-wrapping the cable up and out of the way but didn't give it enough play when the dish moved.so i bought some more connecters as it had broken the original one.
Sorry forgot to mention that one:-doh!
