so, the guy who lives opposite my mate sold me a new(ish) 90cm dish. basicaly what i want to know is, which foreign providers will i be able to pick up on this which show epl games, and how often many they each show etc. id also like to know which of them (for want of a better word) have been 'hacked', so you can watch them using keys without paying for the subscription. obviously im not going to do this coz i dont want to break the law, but out of curiosity IF i did want to do it.........
i plan to go down the dvb-s pci card route and do it through the pc.
iv read a bit already so im not expecting to be spoon fed here, thanks for any replys in advance. cheers.

why not, everone else is :D

So you have a dish, now you need to choose a receiver to go with it, i cant really recommend one its down to personal taste really... bit like choosing a mobile phone for someone you dont know :)

there are alot of good receivers able to do what you want them to do, you also need to decide if you want a motorised dish, fixed dish or a fixed dish with more than one LNB fitted.
in simple terms do you want your dish locked onto one satellite or a few... meaning wider range of channels/choice
for instance... last year i watched all my footy on 13e, but so far this year ive watched all my footy on 19.2e.

there are plenty of channels showing Premier League football with english commentary, some free and some needing subscription.... however you will find even the subscription channels are reasonable compared to sky or setanta.

usually around £150 per year (£12.50 a month equivelent) but YOU choose which match you watch every week ;) unlike sky or setanta where you watch what they choose to show.

The Sky Star 2 is quite popular.
I prefer a card with a CAM option so that I can use it to open official smartcards.

I was only pointing to the O/P to consider a CI CAM module option.
I have a Hauppaugge CI CAM module and it works great. very convenient In the front of the PC just below the floppy drive slot.

so what are the options operator wise? which of these can be viewed without having to pay for the viewing card (is the term open or hacked or what.....)?

also, i was going to get a PCI card BUT, its proberbly more convenient to just get a proper reciever providing you can do everything with them that you can do with a PCI card?

dont get me wrong, id defo consider paying for a subscription BUT if i can get the premium stuff for free il try and do it, no matter how much hassle. :-rofl2
