My Satellite Setup
Dr HD F15, OS mio + 4K, Octagon SF8008, Octagon SX88+. TM 5402HD M3. .Channel Master 1.20 Ku and C Band. 1.1 Triax Dish

Not sure if anyone can help. Would like to have access to Ka band.
Various receivers in use. Dr HD F15 x 2 and Technomate 5402Mk3 and Technomate 5502HD.
Some questions.

How to go about setting up the LNB? Need to stay with Ku band obviously too. I guess the Channel Master 1.2m is best? Is it big enough?
Which receiver is best of the above. Or do I need another?
What set up on the dish for Ku/ Ka. ?

My apologies for questions but not good at this!

Clear view from 55e to 45w

Thank you in advance

As yet there are no dedicated Ka receivers available to the general public...just proprietory ones I suspect.
But any receiver can receive Ka ,,as the IF frequenciy generated ..is the same ..
As to accepting parameters input to give the correct range when tuning ..
Certainly the TMs and the F15 ..and the SX6 are good choices ...
The F15 is my preference on account of its sensitive tuner...
..and we have found through experiment certain receivers are prefered with certain lnbs ...when working with low signal (fringe)
....I'd recommend a high end TBS card as well if possible ..as this will give your experimentation greater legs..

I have Dr had d15/Tm5302 and tbs 6983 sat card. I would have to agree with @Vipersan sat card is the best way forward with ka.

I have the ku/ka combo at prime position on my dish.

Good luck with the setup.

Yes and no ..
Depends on your QTH to a large degree ..
For example ..
For some transponders on 16E ...
Llew only needs a TD88 ...wheras being North and West of him I need a 1.5m dish to catch that same transponder..
There are no hard and fast rules here ..
You need to specify which bird you are after ...and which transponders ..
only then can we comment on dish size ..
Chances are you'll get _some_ with your 1.2 tho ..

Berkshire should yield good results on 7E with a 1.2
Chances are you may get most channels on 16E at your location

;)

Confirming no problems with 16E, 7E and 5E Ka Band D on the Triax TD88 here in Cambs, apart from the occasional signal dropout on 16E TP's in heavy cloud/rain. Or possibly uplink nasties.
