This beacon, on 20200.5MHz now appears to be vertical polarisation and a bit stronger at about 25dB S/N. I wonder if I made a mistake, think in it was circular, when I first found it.

There is also a carrier on 19700.0V at a similar strength to the beacon. I can't check above 20.7 at the moment.

Here's the beacon Graham. My Hughes lump has been modified with a DRO screw and needs adjusting for correct LOF, so it isn't showing true ATM.

Nope, missed that one. My 18GHz Newsnet lnb was off duty all yesterday whilst the Ka band D was being used to monitor some unknown activity at around 21 East.

Wish there was a cheap way of getting ka band but I guess my spare 1m dish wouldn't get much ?

Have a look at this Ka with Prodelin/Viasat 1.2m Band B
The Gilat AN8002 receive side works OKish down to 18.5G, about 2-3dB down on band B. You'll need to remove the circular polariser and have a back end that works down to 250MHz such as the TBS6983/6903 card.

Extra help required here,
A beacon looking signal that seems to be at 21 deg East, does not seem to be external interference, seems to be on a sat downlink and slowly fluctuates from below noise floor up to good levels and very slowly drops back to noise floor. Analyser grab shown at about max level received here in central UK-1.25 Gibby- Band D Gilat rx board. Freq: 21.525, Pol H on rx lnb but unknown.

Observed brief activity again this morning at approx 9.25am UK ... this time on 21.775 and appears to be circular.

Well spotted. I'm not sure of my calibration but it may be closer to 22.000GHz

Slightly off topic, do you know just how far the LO can be adjusted either way on the LNB before stability is affected.

Do you have any images of the dismantled LNB ?

About 400MHz higher when the screw is turned in starting from outside the DRO can CH. Unscrewing doesn't lower the frequency by much if I remember. I shall have to check the exact range when its up on the dish next.

The two units i did went from 19.700 to 20.900.
They both gave a flat response up to 20.520 and then started to drop off but usable to 20.900
