Dunno Chris, it keeps coming up and then off again. I don't usually see a sniff of anything from 25.5 E footprint though.

Viewable just above the noise here on a Triax 88, around 2.15PM. It's ~26E, but not sure exactly where, could be as scopus suggests i.e 25.5E?

P.S. Must correct my Promax clock...

I notice that Edgar spotted it at the beginning of the year and has logged it as 25.5 E and as a possible data signal & not beacon.

Hi,

tried 25.5°E on 1,2m, but very bad scan on hot temperatures, better on February this year.

Nothing found on 26.0°E.

Best regards
qwer.

This signal is displaying fairly quick movement from coming out of the noise up to a reasonable level for quite a long period and then slowly reducing back down to the noise floor and then repeating itself after a few minutes

Nowt here H or V at that spot for me today John. A bit cloudy, so probably lost in the noise.

It's only about half the strength of the Horizontal signal from the other day Llew but it is constant and not up and down like the Hor one.

Al Yah 2 at 47.6E has quite a lot in bands E and A but I only get one real detection on 17930MHz 8000ks/s. The other one is probably false. Nothing too exiting and I need a few more dB to lock.
Using a modified XMW band A with a linear feed on a 1.2m.

Here's another Gilat Ka band system up for grabs for all you twiddlers and experimenters, doesn't show the exact Ka band model on the pics so needs clarifying.

>>Will I be able to receive a lot with the gilat lnb? <<

Simple easy answer - No. Basically, for UK enthusiasts, Ka band signals with video / audio content are very few and far between and spread over only a few satellites that are receivable. It's channels count is only a very small fraction compared to Ku or Cband satellites. It's not as easy to operate as Ku band stuff but Ka can offer some interesting content.

I've messaged the guy to see what frequencies this thing can receive and I'll post it in here soon

Bare in mind that these Gilat units are designed and built for a specific use ie: broadband, and correctly matched to an off-set dish. In an untouched unmodified state they are not an easy plug & play / point and watch item - there has to be a certain amount of modification done to the units to make them usable for general program content viewing.
First thing to do is ask the seller if he can see either of these two model numbers that is on the backside of the tx/rx unit (ODU) on a label near the two F connectors :- AN8002 or AN8004 and then report back.

I have just had a reply just now from the seller, she confirms it is an AN8002 LNB, it seems she will split so what is a reasonable price ?

Ok thanks, I'm not the main Guru on modding these units and can only help you up to a certain point ...... there is a dedicated thread on the forum relating to the use and alterations to these units by member s-band, which at the moment can't think of the exact thread title, and should be read thoroughly. The reason i asked about the two important Unit labels is because they cover entirely different regions of the Ka band spectrum.
You now need to let us know what it is in the Ka band you are actually interested in watching because that will determine which of the two Gilat units will be of use to you. Example: for the eventual possibility of watching signals from 19 East Ka Band A for the regional feeds & Newsnet channel on 18.556 GHz Vertical plus other channels on the Horizontal side , OR - the domestic channels on Horizontal polarity on Ka Band D from the main satellites for us in the UK at 16 / 7 / & 4.9deg East. A good guide as to what is on these satellites is to look at the Lyngsat & other sites at those satellite positions mentioned and look for the listings that come under the Ka category .
Have you an idea of what dish you had in mind to use for this project.
