I have swapped the omt (I have 2 of them) changed the polarity twice, moves the dish a few times, all other ka is working, it's just the hughesnet isn't.

.... when you dismantled the omt / Hughe's etc did you look down into the probe area of the Hughe's to check for water ingress, sign's of moisture etc or was it all dry as a bone Chris

When I took them apart they were dry.

Around the same time it "stopped working" we had lightning, dunno if that may have caused a problem. (Just a thought) oh I can't rule out the dish face being bent in the high winds we have had.

.... Part of this little project was to evaluate the performance difference between the Cband H/V pol - L/R pol servo Old School unit thats on the changer against a single polarity simple feed working in either H or V and at some stage against an lnbf unit for curiousity sake. The changer is loaded up near to max units, perhaps room for one more. Evaluation not until tomorrow now.

.... Ok , without installation aids, especially on Ka, it's going to be a bugger to blindly hit the the Ka Newsnet spot. Easy things first to start the process off to try and find the culprit ...... String it. If thats ok then just pray the lightning didn't upset it .... i would have thought that it would have had to be a pretty close strike to take it out. I think your Dr receiver has a bit of a spectrum display in it which might be of some use ?, take it outside along side of the dish with a monitor. Remove any diseqc switches and just have a single good coax cable feed from Hughe's lnb to Dr receiver. The nag racing channel on Hor usually belts in up here in North Nottinghamshire at 16dB plus, not sure for your location though, so might be a good starting point. You know roughly where the Gib needs to point for 19.2 so just slowly pan left to right, elevation up & down in an organised manner, giving the Dr rx spectrum display time to respond and again pray that you eventually get a result. Depending on your results will determine which is the next step to take. Temparatures are up outside now, get out there and make it have it !.

Newsnet signal reasonably strong today with the Triax TD88.

..... Nothing to do with my Ka project, but have you ever wondered what the inside of a C-band Titanium C1W-PLL looks like ??

I call my Titanium 'Spikey' because of the rubbish the PLL spews out across the spectrum.

Compare with the DMX242.

Blimey, it is a bit !. The DMX response is a bit flatter across the range as well. I'm going to try the BSC 421 from DMS International next as a comparison

Staying O/T, with the limited scope I have for thorough testing and comparison of the two LNBs - only a few of the stronger satellites available to me with my small dishes - the Titanium performs well enough compared to the DMX, although I would say the latter has a slight edge when it comes to the really weak TPs.

I don't know if the Titanium's spikes can cause interference outside C-Band though. Might be worth doing tests with various reception equipment some time.

Out all the C band LNB's I have had my Astrotel Gold is by far the best, I have never rated the Tit, worst performer on my CM 1.8.

.... This job is more or less done and dusted now . Moving on to the C-band version in a new thread: "C-band servo Polarity Mod"
