1.3m Dish Quad LNB

Hi I am in Southern Spain nr Malaga,

I have a 1.3m dish. with a Quad LNB

I have a Grundig , Panasoinc and Amstrad receivers.

I have three cards two ex subscription and one freeview.

The transponder setting is 10817. V

All works OK but every few days I loose get the message "No Satelite Signal is being received".

When I check the transponder settings they have changed to 11778.

I change it back and it works ok for a few days then i loose it again.

Any ideas how I can stop this can i lock the transpoder settings?
Am i using the best settings?

If your box can get the default transponder (the 11778 one) then the box will change back to it eventually.

Do you actually receive any more channels or EPG listings when you have it set to 10817. V?

Do all the boxes not receive the default 11778 transponder? If so you should check your dish and LNB, a 1.3m dish in the Malaga area should receive it :)

I get the same problem, but I believe it to be because the default the box is set to look for in the UK is 11778, which is ok as you aint supposed to watch the sky etc outside of the UK (Briitish Isles), so if you set your default to say 12129, and for whaterver reason you lose that signal, the box will revert and look for the default preset, IE back to 11778 ,,,,I dont know if the box settings can be altered to stop it happening,,,

They will often reset to the default transponder after a power interuption, I think it was one of the members here who couldn't understand why he lost the signal every wednesday, he subsequently linked it to his wife pulling out the plug so that she could use the vacuum cleaner. :)

It may be that you can see enough signal from 11778 to force the change.

According to lyngsat, there is no channel transmitted from 11778V transponder 4.Looks like it only carries EPG.

The software ALWAYS searches for 11778 V at EVERY bootup..
Even if the default transponder is altered, if it detects 11778V after a bootup it will automatically revert to that...and there is nothing that can be done about this..

Such a Nice guy that Zorba - Can't wait until the ""expert"" next seeks advice.

Sorry I can't help you as we don't get that problem here, but I'm sure someone else will.

Good Luck

I didnt call me an expert Trig,i cant even spell specialist contributor, the moderators gave that name to me. :confused
Actually my question was put to Iceman,I just wanted to know if anybody knew how to do it,but its not a secret.
If you go into the New installation(services 4,0,1 select, 6) and proceed on to where it says "now scanning please wait",disconnect your satellite cable from the digibox. Then you will get the message NO DEFAULT TRANSPONDER FOUND,PRESS SELECT TO MODIFY SETTINGS.Then type in your chosen frequency etc, then press select and you will be shown the signal level screen. Now connect the sat cable and wait for the grey bars, then press select to continue. Then you will get CHANNEL LINE UP COMPLETE.
Now every time you go to default transponder it will be the one you chose, and most digiboxes will remember this after power is disconnected, some even after weeks of no power.
Mines a Keo.

Nice one Zorba, didn't know that (probably because I live in the centre of the footprint), but it will be of great help to our out of footprint friends. :)

I have never had a problem with 11778v, but people who i know use the 12051v (Is that right?) which is the one which carries CNN. When i use the 80cm dish for sky, i set it to that frequency to bring up the EPG.

You can never have problem with 11778V because that is THE default transponder in the software but you must be able to pick up 11778V...
The alternative transponders are used in cases where 11778V is not received but the receiver defaults back to 11778V after powered off or if it detects 11778...

Thx for the tip Zorba...Saved me a lot of headache and time..

[Ha,,, Now I am and Expert in KEO,, if you look up the big hill Troodos,, I helped installed those dishes, many years ago, but spent a lot of time in Limassol, investigating the properties of KEO,,
Thanks for the info on Default transponder, let youknow how I get on,, as power cuts here are a must \Thanks

I tried this above on a Pace 430n. It only works if the default transponder cannot be received- if it can the box will revert to default no matter what you do.

Thats why I said take out the sat cable before you scan, then it will ask you to change the default transponder. This should last till the next power failure.
Then again the pace 430's are a bit strange, they seem to have a habit of losing channels stored in "other channels" sometimes.

This does not work for my HD box. The 11778V transponder comes and goes during the day (its OK in the morning but vanishes mid afternoon). The HD box transfers itself back to the 11788V default transponder setting every morning which is a real pain.
Has anyone found a solution to this ?

There is no permanent solution apart from improving the default transponder reception.
In countries where there are a lot of power cuts all receivers will revert to 11778 after a period of time. There is another problem with choosing an alternative frequency, the EPG may only show 12 or 24 hours ahead.
There is one workround though, connect the digibox to a UPS backup power supply, then set your chosen default transponder.

That is so true! I have a Pace 430N and have the Irish E4 stored in other channels (11565 V) as we cannot receive the regular E4. We always lose it when we have a power cut (or blip) (luckily we don't get many such cuts here) - just have to program it in again,

Cheers,
Geoff

Geoff why not invest in a small UPS, that will smooth out the blips and will supply the stb with electicity should the mains go off.
