King of the Sunflowers 2018

Seven foot though, not too bad. Must try some different colours next time.

Nothing to shout about here either.Of the five Mongolian Giant plants one has got to 5 1/2 foot,Smallest is nudging 2 foot.
One of the Russian Giants is just under 9 foot.The other one is on one of the gate posts.It was only a couple of foot not long ago now four foot a very small bud on it.That one still has time to grow.

Mine are hopeless this year - the biggest one is less than 4 foot high

Same here Ross I am disappointed to say that being away in May when the dry spell began, the lack of water available has stunted the growth of my sunflowers this year. Five foot 2 inches is the maximum for the first flower, the tallest could reach six foot in time but not much more.

Mine did not do very well this year.The Mongolian Giant sunflowers got to 6/7 foot.Of the two Russian Giant sunflowers one I broke the top off untangling it from the gate frame after a windy day.The other one got to ten foot.All yellow I may try some different colours next year.

I think Im going to heading to my accustomed place at the bottom of the height table again this year. No idea whats happened to them - 50 yards from my pathetic stunted plants on the allotment there are some magnificent specimens - must be 8 footers.

Next year Im planting the bloody things somewhere else!

Well I have to declare a dividend and claim just 6ft 1" this year, heaven knows why the head is pointing East, perhaps it decided to convert!
