Well final picture of the year, topped out at 6ft 7in, not surprising as I have been using the seeds from the flower heads for about five years now

Well not anything to do with the competition however at the Scottish Deer Park Centre last week we spotted plenty of giant sunflowers, sorry I did not have a tape measure to hand.

Anyone see the article on Sunflowers (and other plants, and trees) in today's Times newspaper?

Says that, when planted close together, Sunflowers share the resources in the soil and the energy from the Sun (and other plants and some trees do the same)!

Seems to imply that if you want tall Sunflowers then don't plant them close together &/or in the same flowerpot!

Just taken mine down, the heads for seeds for next year and the stems chopped and stuffed in a plant pot to make a bee hotel, which was nice....!
