King of the sunflowers 2019

I thought this was the tallest sunflower competiton - not one to see who can grow the shortarse flower

Things are not looking good this year.Two are flowering already,one is at 4 foot the other is at 4ft 5".I have one at five foot though so hopfully I will not be taking the wooden spoon off Analoguesat this year.

The stalk has thickened and the rain and sunshine is making mine put on a spurt also, only just over 5 foot though

Like myself William-1 has obviously not mastered the art of levitation yet
I had to attach a cane extension during the sunny spell and the sunflower has decided it is not time to flower it is time to reach for the stars, still only 6 foot tall though

Champion sunflower here currently 2ft 10.

Tallest here is 4ft 7 inches tall.

Nearest plant is 7 ft tall, but still busy pushing out foliage, no flowers yet. I can wait.

Ah well mine had it's growth spurt and is now flowering, have not measured it yet but it is over 6 feet tall now

Despite their name, the heads of mine never seem to be turned towards the sun. Speaking of which, temperature here at 2 PM is a Cambs. July record of 37°C

Most of mine have topped out at 6 foot and below.One at 7 foot.There is a surprise one at the end of the shed it is a bit skiny but it looks to be at about 8 foot. the roof of the shed is just under 7 foot.

Flowering at 9 foot 3, probably my maximum for this year.



But wait -

I have one cleverly trying to hide close to next door's scaffolding, just beats the one above by all of 2 inches

Long, but lacking in width (as the actress said etc...)
