Nice job,
How is the diseq motor holding up so far? It looks a lot more exposed now. (fingers crossed)
Do you know what the laminas actually weighs when assembled?
The motor is still running, but it will show its quality now when there will be more windload. As long as it dont falls off the pole i dont bother.I have recently sent a mail to Laminas for an update if there will be a proper polarmount soon.

Thanks, what motor are you using, didn't see it mentioned. I am changing from a 1m steel orbital dish (8Kgs) to a Gibertini op125 1.2m aluminum dish, I just weighed it and it's about the same (8Kgs) on a Motek sg2100 motor, but mine is ground mounted and very, very sheltered. I also bought the polar mount in case I needed it though. I think I read somewhere that laminas no longer make the polar mount, but may make a small production run if enough people wanted/ordered it.
Let us know how you get on

Its a Clarke Tech HH390 with steelgear, but theres to mutch backlash so i realy wants a p.m. . If you have a sheltered mount try with the DiSEqC rotor.God luck with your Gibertini.

The common vertical transponders at Nilesat7W
I will go for a Inverto Black Ultra and see if it performs better than the Smart Titanium.

You could also try 11977V (City 7 TV), which is the strongest TP I can pick up from 7°W.

Don't know if you want to try but at the moment the strongest horizontals are quite good. Look at 12226H (National Geographic Abu Dhabi) and 12303H (FM TV)

No, no signal at that transponder, its just the vertikal i can get as it looks.Im living far to north to get the horizental transp, with this dishsize.

Yes, thought so, but you might want to try this evening after 22:00. They do get quite a bit stronger and if the night is clear you may be lucky. Your results have made me think again about the Laminas dish but I'm not sure that the fringe reception I might be able to pull in is worth the expense. I also have to think that if it did trash my motor with the wind force on the larger dish, I'd either have to replace that and go back to the smaller Gibi I have now or spend more on a polar mount and actuator etc. I'm slightly tempted but available money is getting tighter!!

Yes i will try again in a clear evening and i will replace the Smart to my MTI High Line and make a directconnection to the Vantage, i might loose some dB when looping the signal .
Sadly it's always money (or understanding neighbours) that's missing to take up our hobby to the next level.I would gladly go for a Laminas AS 200, but cost to mutch and i will not be popular here anymore.

Diminishing returns too. Spend 100€ you get a 80cm dish and diseqc motor. Go up to a 1.5m and your out at least 500€ for the dish, mount, actuator and v-box. Go up to a decent 2.4 and you are out thousands. Each time you go up you get less return for your money.

Luckily, my nearest neighbour is on the other side of a field, which from May to October is planted with maize. Right now I can't even see his roof! But I do agree with Huevos, once you go over 1M dish size costs increase on a non linear scale whilst your returns decrease similarily. I really don't think I can justify the extra expense. Besides, it's been as much fun trying to extract as much performance out of the Gibi as it would have been trying to get the best out of a larger Laminas.

Try with the largest Polish retailer Hollex

They have the dishes and polarmounts.

I'm not sure how close the mounting holes on a Laminas polar mount would be to a Channel Master dish face. I guess anything is possible with modifications, however although the Laminas AZ/EL mount is of good quality I'm not so sure that it's up to taking a Channel Master dish face. The only other thing I could do would be to measure the dish mounting for comparison to a CM.

good thread this for Laminas owners - i do wonder if i'd gain from ditching my IBU LNBF for a feedhorn setup ...

Some time ago I tried a feedhorn on the Laminas, without good results....You'd be better off with the IBU.

which feedhorn did you try - i have tried the CM one - without much success, HOWEVER that might have been because I used slightly LESSER spec c120 LNBs - an invacom 0.3db, and a inverto pro 0.2db

i am planning to convert a TIT 0.1db LNBf to c120 and test again

i am also hoping to get the proper Laminas feed horn from SATSKLEP (the OP-40) to test the c120's and the converted TIT
