The 130s are the originals, a better rating than the upgrades in many satellite psu gamble kits out there.
So, thus 130C-rated caps are not "good enough", and so what temp (or other??) rating would you recommend?

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

?

The two capacitors (and the other identifiable components), I was not intending on repairing the bulbs nor a full autopsy.
I would suspect the same semiconductor has died in all four units I took from site, the LED daughter boards will go into a project at some point, assuming they are all functioning, a simple two wire affair and they take up virtually no space at all.

After 40 years in electronics, I did not know that capacitors of 130ºC are manufactured, every day I learn something new.
I will continue putting those of 105ºC of quality and not the cheap ones of 5000 hours of life (MTBF).
These capacitors fail because of the high switching frequency that overheats them, apart from the heat where they are inserted.

Remember that LED diodes support up to 50ºC of optimum temperature.
Above this working temperature your life shortens quickly.
The 50000 hours of good life are reduced to 1 year at best.

The homemade bulbs that I make, have 2 times better dissipation, in 10 years only 2 bad LEDs of 10W (1000lux).
With the accounts now that I see in the boxes, they are 40-50W of equivalent light.

I knew about 125 degree small electrolytics (used in some vehicle ignition systems), but 130 was a new one to me.

Some of my friends have similar problems with small Halogen Energy Savers bulbs expected life 2,000 hours actual life is 300 to 500 hours,

Halogen Capsule 33w 240v G9 Osram Clear Light Bulb - Replaces 40w Version - 66733 or HEHP33.
Most of our halogen bulbs have lasted a very long time.

OTOH, probably don't get more than around 150hrs from the small 118mm 230W halogens striplights in the floor-standing combined up-lighter/ downlighters, and so I buy then 10 at a time! Would fit LED replacements, but most of those are too "fat" to fit into the spaces in the reflectors, or else they are not omnidirection around the fitting axis.

1.2Mtr Polar MTG yes it has been on the arc for 25 years and is now fixed on 13 East using two pairs of rusty molegrips. Unlike me they never groan but always perform.
