The picture quality on Digitalb for live matches this past season has reportedly been really poor, which is what is putting me off getting a sub. I am currently subscribed to Art Sports but always try to find the matches on other channels first (usually Premiere) because of the poor picture quality on Art. I hear Digitalb is even worse than Art - I would be interested to hear the opinions of anyone watching matches on Digitalb.

I have read in another forum that Digitalb will be changing the way they encode the matches next season to improve the PQ, but this came from someone who sells Digitalb cards so not sure how reliable this information is.

It would be nice if people added to that xl file, it took some time just to do the UK coverage. Of course, if you want to tart it about on other forums, more the merrier, so long as the updates come back to HQ (this thread) so we can get a proper detailed one.

Hi All

Premier looks favourite but!
What about their multimatch choice screens. Will these cause a problem?

All the Best

hi, first post for me here...

I have been looking closely at the Premiership broadcast headache for next season and it seems that Showtime Arabia will 100% be showing all 380 games for the next season. The head of the channel announced this in a press conference a few months ago and now showtime are advertising their package in Dubai including all 380 games. They will be adding 6 new channels for sport to cope with this. Unfortunately I am in Estonia and the footprint is not good and even with a 2m dish I wouldn't get crap :( I am amazed to hear that some people can get it in the UK. It seems that Digialb are updating their service this summer and so the picture quality should be better for next season. What is the showtime service like in Cyprus?

Hi, could someone give me a rough estimate of the cost for a decoder and 12 month subscription for showtime arabia and perhaps put me in the direction of someone who could sell me a package?

so it is true that art have lost prem footy for next season ,gutted about that.do i just buy a conax cam and digitalb card. dont know which one to get? will i have to move the position of my dish as well?cheers

OK, with ART losing the Premiership rights for next season I did a bit of research into possible alternatives for next season. I have worked out the percentage of Premiership games shown by each channel between September and December 2006, I realise that numbers might be different for next season but this is the only info I have to work from.

I've included how much a 12 month sub will cost to each channel for UK viewers, just using the cheapest price I could find on the internet. As a comparison, Sky Sports with a Prem Plus season ticket showed 37.6% of all matches and costs £468 for 12 months.

Code:
[FONT=Courier]Channel         Country    %Matches  Cost[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]=========================================[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]ART Sport       UAE           80.7%  lost rights[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]SuperSport SA   South Africa  62.4%  n/a in UK[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]Sky Italia      Italy         59.1%  £900[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]Canal+          Scandinavia   56.4%  £595[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]Diema           Bulgaria      55.2%  £195[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]SuperSport      Greece        50.8%  £745[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]TPS             France        50.3%  £475[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]DigitAlb        Albania       48.6%  £140[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]UPC Sport       Hungary       46.4%  £425[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]Galaxie         Czech Rep     39.2%  £656[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]Cabo Sport      Portugal      39.2%  £595[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]Sky / PremPlus  UK            37.6%  £468[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]MegaSport       Ukraine       37.0%  ?[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]Premiere        Germany       36.5%  £430[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]Canal+Deporte   Spain         34.3%  £700[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]TeleSport       Romania       34.3%  £395[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier]TV8             Turkey        34.3%  FTA?[/FONT]
So first impressions are that Digitalb (48.6% of all matches for £140) and Diema (55.2% of all matches for £195) are the best value alternatives.

What I would like to do is gather more information about these channels and their Premiership coverage. For example do they have English commentary, are they broadcast in widescreen, what is the picture quality like, are they easy to pick up in the UK. And of course if any of the above information is incorrect please let me know. So if anyone has watched Premiership coverage on any of these channels and can provide relevant information, please add your info to this thread.

Fixed would be ok, but motorised would give you more options when needed and trust me, there will be times when you will wish you had gone motorised, so I say get motorised from the start.

You may find that digitalb is not doing what you want, then later down the line wish to move to a different provider who does not trasmit on 16E, then you have to mess around paying out for another installation to install the motor and re-setup the dish.

All I am saying you will find it cheaper and less hassle to go motorised from the start.

Hi,

"Die Konferenz" is normally only on during the Bundesliga winter break. When the Bundesliga is playing they normally stick to one live match for the EPL as the commentators needed for Die Konferenz are busy commentating on the german games.

What equipment are you using to watch Premiere and Arena?

Cheers,

Methos
