It goes where the signal quality is best (trial and error), it also needs skewing to suit the satellite you are pointing at, about 7 O'Clock for Astra 28.2 from Heathrow.

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

As Rolfw says, the best position is where the signal on the box peaks at it's highest percentage of Signal Quality. Personally I start by pushing it toward the dish, then sliding it backwards, but if you have a strong enough signal you shouldn't have to do too much adjustment... :)

Call me thick:-doh! ,but are we talking about degrees here not o,clock because 7 o/c the lnb would be nearly upside down:confused and can i use my watch as a guide, ive heard that 1 second is equal to 6 degree is that right? I have found out the skew is 13.4 so looking at it from the front "facing dish"i would have to turn it anti-clockwise,Am i correct?

thanks for your help guys:-thumb1

Stand in front of the dish as if you would be blocking the receiving incoming signal.

Imagine or picture a clock face.

When the little hand reaches 7 O'Clock, :-rofl2 turn the LNb so it's at this angle

This will be a a turn in the clockwise direction :D

Probably not helpful in the slightest, but LNBs will work upside-down (looking from the front of the dish), I had (still have actually!!) a heyuuuuge Grundig Twin LNB on my indoor Hispasat (30w) dish, and the dish had to be pretty close to the window aswell as being low in order to pick up the signal, so the LNB had to be inverted with the cables at the top in order for the dish to be low enough... :D

But anyway, yes, the Cable/Socket is the "Little hand", pretend you're the LNB and look towards the dish, turn the LNB clockwise to 7 o'clock, tighten up the nuts/screws and you're done, well, for the LNB skew you are... :)

Well the dish is up and working, it went pretty easly, took about 15mins ,ive got 90% signal strenth and 70% signal quality:) would you say thats pretty good.
I am going to replace the coax and perhaps the lnb in the future, but coax first as it is crap rg6u, i wouldnt even use it for cb use, if it were 50ohms infact my rg6 50ohm cb cable is far superior:eek:
now one has to find somewhere that tells me whats on and were:-rofl2
