Many of you will have seen the photo of my zip tied 9E lnb strapped to the side of my 13E lnb. On this I could also get the strongest W1 tp's

Over the weekend I changed the 13E lnb for a quad so I could wire in my Sky Italia digibox. The 9E lnb was roughly strapped back onto the quad - somewhat awkwardly as they dont sit very well together at the moment and more tweaks are needed.

When I connected ebverything back up I found the now somewhat wonky 9E lnb is also giving me the strongest tp's from W3A at 7E :D Ive got about 8 channels fta and 30 odd in all.

So Im sitting here enjoying the African channels 2S, Africable ORTM and RTS 1 Senegal

I have lost W1 but Id much rather have W3A instead. I need to angle the 9E lnb in a bit - its pointing off centre at the moment, but it held in place with zip ties and a chock of wood !

I will be interested to see what the final result is when Ive finished tweaking :D

Not a good idea, it perishes quickly in sunlight, so would fall off by the end of the summer... :(

Duct tape is designed for use with hot air ducting which reaches very high temperatures (200deg C)why would ultraviolet light degrade it, heating ducts operate in all types of illuminated and non illuminated environments what makes you say that, Although I see no reference to UV light in this document, perhaps on purpose...

Are you suggesting you couldn't get the other half up the ladder and hold onto it for grim life when absolutely necessary ? Humping

(*ahem* - What was the question ?)

Just going from experience with my taped-on-to-the-window solar panels, the duct tape came loose (the glue was all dry and crumbly) in the sun very quickly, I almost lost my panels in strong winds...

Perhaps but the idea is that you wrap the duct tape glue side down not expose the glued side to the sunshine by sticking it to a window no blo-Oo-Ody wonder it fell off! did you not RTFMor the instruction leaflet?

Ah, but there is duct tape, Gaffer tape and duck tape, all look the same and some are better than others, but none of them like external applications in my experience, but this is a tad of a red herring. :)

Funny you say that, the glue side was facing away from the sun... :D

As for leaflets, the stuff I get is loose in a box from the DIY guy on the market... :)

Here is the current set up with the offset lnb lashed very roughly in place Note the offset lnb is pointing nowhere near the centre of the dish
:D

This is what is known as a top botch job :-rofl2

(Yes I KNOW the black cable needs shortening - that will get done when I tidy the installation up! In the meantime it works and Im not bothered if it looks a bit ratty :D)

holy smokes, you've got alot of dishes there! My place is gonna look like that soon.

I've tried the duct tape externally before, it works well and sticks like crazy (depending on the quality of the tape). Only thing I hate about it, is the the sticky residue it leaves behind afterwards, and trying to clean it off afterwards with a solvent might just warp your LNBs cover.

Is there anything interesting on W3A? I can receive here in SA, been thinking about putting up another dish for it.

Theres not much on the African beam

_http://www.lyngsat.com/ew3a.html

I'll put up a proper pic of the dish farm

Theres 4 in the garden, one on the side of the house for Sky UK, and 4 of various sizes blocking up holes in the hedge and lost in the long grass which need to be installed *at some point when Ive got time * :D

Couldn't you get away with 2 or 3 of those toroidal dishes ?

Id probably get away with one toroidal, as trees block anything useful much westwards from 5E

However most of the dishes were free, so Ive put them to good use. :D

The dishes have come from all sorts of places - friends, folk I work with, out the local woodland, one of the sky zone 1 minidishes from a skip, one off the side of the road on bin day, etc. Most of the lnb's are second hand too :D

Do you speak French? I thought you were British! I haven't come across many British guys who speak any other language except the one you think I am referring to :-)
