I know these won't be the best in the world (and from what I gather from one of the other topics one is actually a rebrand since Humax does not make LNB. But my friend boyfriend can actually setup sat dish. So see it as a good time to "upgrade the system" to a 1.1 metre dish and also update the LNB .6 that came with the Lidi analogue package all those years ago. To either a Humax .3db or Maximum SF-10 .3db to improve the signal from the Sirius sat which my wife watch and just "hopefully" might pick up Nilesat NBC channel like I had last summer. The LNB cost about £15, I know one person on here use Humax and say it is good, but supposely yhe Maximum is a tiny bit better. But wondering is there any other LNB which say costing other £5/£10 will give a much better performance than these two?

Yeah, I can recommend the MTI blueline as well. I bought a virtually new one on eBay for a pound!
LOL, did I mention that before?!?!

A pound!

I'll get my coat.

Using a Lidl LNB with my dish and Dreambox and gets me all I can ever watch (if I had the time)

Gameboy, do you aim your dish and some of the more "weaker sat?" it is where the better LNB would come into play. Like using the Technomate decoder I somehow this week pick up AMOS on my dish!! can't believe it and can get STS (CTC) Urkaine and ICTV. But the strength is only about 37% and quality I think roughly the same. Hence it breaks up quite a bit. Now by getting a better quality LNB it will improve the signal to say 55% and likewise the quality. Not great but might make it enough that signal will not break and make it watchable. Hence than do not need to get a bigger dish. From what I gather from this forum and things, the thing that effect signals is the dish size and quality, than decoder and than the quality of the LNB.

The dish, cable, LNB and receiver will all factor in the signal you receive.

LNB (low noise block) (Down converter - it converts a whole band or block of frequencies to a lower band)

They can also be rotated in their holder to adjust the Skew which may improve the signal strength. A flange type LNB has a magnetic coil polariser built in the allow this adjustment from your receiver (which must support this option).

Ideally the LNBs should match your dish so that the internal antenna of the device has it's exact focal point in the centre of your dish. If the dish and LNB are not matched you may not be getting the best from your set-up. With satellite using higher output signals (50-60 Watts) with high gain and low noise figures it is not as important as it used to be to match the LNB to the dish. If the LNB is see less of the dish that it could you will not be collecting all the signal from your dish.

If it is more it may be collecting unwanted noise from any warm object like the sky or wall behind the dish. Most LNBs are now positioned 'offset' minimising the amount of signal obscured by the older 'prime focus' LNB mounts.

The smaller the dish the more important the match is that is why the Sky mini dish comes complete with a matching LNB.

Sharp 0.3db gives me better reception for nilesat than invacom 0.3 or other 0.6 lnbs I have used in the past. Regards.
