Just after your views - I picked this dish up 80cm mesh, twin 0.7db Televes LNBs, 2-way diesqc switch - £30 - possibly a bit over the odds, but still. (Its destination is the midlands to get 5W French analogue for my folks)

It was installed on the south coast UK (Poole) pointed at 13/19.2E - I was surprised at the amount of skew on the LNBs - it seemed way overkill - unless the dish was mounted at a weird angle - what are your thoughts?
(Or are Televes LNBs designed to be mounted at 45degrees?)

Hi CTS

Not sure if this helps as but my LNB looks to be around that angle. In the Manhattan the skew parameter reads 'plus 45'.

Bloody hell, all the Skews on my dishes are set to zero. The only one I need to tweak for is Hispasat on the odd occasions I push the dish round that far! :D

Exactly!

Don't forget that many LNB's designed for use on a particular satellite will have the skew set internally such that the casing appears to be at 0 degrees skew.

If you were to use a '$ky' LNB on a standard dish pointed at 1W you would have to visually have a fair bit of skew on.
Flippin' 'ell, is that the Fosters talking?!?!?! O-Ha What the skew am I on about?!?! ({})

Just to follow up my earlier post. My LNB is a Gardiner Universal 0.7 DB.

PS the gutters are now cleared.

I dunno if this applies but that Swedish Microwave proggy actually gives a visual picture of lnb angle when on certain sats as well as stating what skew should be.
Is that the same thing we talking about??

I presume if dish on longitude of zero then when dish is pointing true south the lnb should have skew of zero? or am I getting it all wrong ...

I am on nights and it is now Sunday morn at 6 am :( so am I excused?

Is that a peice of freeware? Does it cater for different types of LNBs... where might I find it?

It is a free program.
You can find it here...

http://www.smw.se/smwlink/smwlink.htm

It was some time ago now when I used it.
I initially used it to set my 'fixed' dish at Hotbirds just to see what the angle of the lnb should look like.
