I have a problem.I have been looking for a new linux reciever for a few weeks. The more that I read the harder to decide it gets.I have four tm recievers.so at first I fancied the tm nano. There is not much information about that though.Next the optibox looked interesting. What I need is a good blind scan,so I was drawn to the TBS6925.I have read the marathon thread about that but am not sure about it.I think that it could be way above my head.It looks a bit complicated.I have more or less decided on the vu+ solo2.But I have not seen much about blind scan on this reciever.I am not sure if it has hardware or software blind scan.Have seen replies about driver problems.Though most of the replies that I have read are pretty old.

Not sure about Solo2 but Uno's blind scan is certainly hardware and works well enough on the VIX image. Huevos will be along shortly to advise you on Solo2.

What about non-Linux/Enigma 2 receivers like Dr HD? They are cheap and very sensitive.

Also, the TBS5925 is less than half price of the 6925 with more or less the same features (not sure which ones are missing - 16/32 APSK?)

I have a Solo2 - haven't been able to get blindscan to work. Search the forum for information (from Huevos, I think) but apparently although the hardware is capable the drivers aren't available yet. That being said, is a superb bit of kit :)

C/J. Are you sure the 5925 is half price of 6925. I don't have any of them, but a Google search puts them at par in price.

You're right it's the Technisat SkyStar 2 eXpress HD PCIe that's a very good price.

The cheapest TBS5925 that I have seen is about £155.
It is either the TBS6925 or VU+solo2. I just have to make my mind up which is proving dificult.
I am leaning towards the VU I think that it is the safer option.I still have the TM5402HD for blind scans.

I am sure I saw them for about £79.... maybe it was the SS2 like remlap says?

I'd rather pay the extra 15 quid and get from BuyDVB (Directly from TBS)

From the States? Plus postage, plus import charges...

I have been looking all day myself I am after much the same ponti, this box is in the running at the moment but I need to read up on its blind scan,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0&_nkw=CLOUD IBOX 2&_sacat=0&_from=R40

personally id stay well clear as there are people all over the net with issue after issue. why not take a look at the DR-HD D15 as they come up for £100. never found linux boxs much good at blindscanning compared to closed source boxs. for me an E2 linux box is for watching tv and a closed source box like the DR-HD F16/D15, TM 5302/5402, F3/5 ect ect are best for fringe/blind scan ect but each to their own and its just my own view

The 5925 is a USB receiver.

Then what on earth did I see for £79....?

That SS2 does look like a bargain. What is it missing that the 6925 isn't?

Edit: bought the SS2 eXpress HD. Seems too good of a bargain to miss! Bad thing is I need to install Windows on my PC again :(

16/32APSK, ACM/VCM, probably multistream transponder reception and maybe low symbol rates of <1000.

Enjoy the new card mate.

Just to let you know that the Solo2's so called Blind scan is Software controlled as the tuners are soldered to the board and work from the processor, As CJ stated the only hardware Blindscan receiver in the VU is the Uno,Ultimo and Duo2 as the Tuners Plug & Play

No problem martin the idea of the post was to get some feedback on recievers.
Although I have blind scan on my TM5402.It would be nice to have a good one on the next reciever that I buy.Which looks like it is going to be the solo2.
I have one more question about the sol2.I can do most things that I want with my Alien2.The usual things that you do with a linux box.Use DBE .DCC.One thing that it falls down on is feed hunting which I do a lot.It is fine for normal satellite use.But if you get it onto a transponder or satellite with no signal. The box freezes ,it slows down.it is as if the prosseser is overloaded. It can take some time to get out of the menus.once you get it back onto a live transponder it is back to normal. It is most annoying. It has nearly gone into the bin more than once.Apart from that it is a good reciever.
I am asuming that the solo2 does not suffer from that.If not I shall be ordering one today.
While I am at it.The reason that I would like another blind scan is this. The TM blind scan is pretty good.I have noticed on occasion that it can miss live transponders. One in particular I know that RASTDTV on 45w is live but when I blind scan it the reciever never finds it.It has happened on another transponder also.So it is probably missing others too.
Hope that lot makes sense I run off a bit a the mouth a bit when I get going.:)

Yes, I get the same "not finding transponders" issue as well on Dr HD and the Uno. For blind-scanning in Vu+, I would suggest the Uno or Duo2 or Ultimo... the processor in these is more than fast enough for everyday tasks - I never had my Uno "slow down".. unlike the DM800 clone I had a while back.

Also, as digi247 says, these are the only Vu+'s with proper hardware blindscan, which DOES work. Something tells me you'll be disappointed with Solo2 for this particular task (blind scanning) but this is going on what other people say and not my personal experience.
