Yes thats always an option, I'll see how it goes
I ended up using 2" Aluminium scaffold pole, a friend gave me some. Its incredibly strong and that whole setup does not seem to be going anywhere, given it a tug all over and no play.

In a way, I think it's preferable to have a *little* play in the pole, so that some strong-wind stresses are offloaded by it...

Debateable. Aluminium will be less forgiving owing to the 'bite of the clamps on the motor (and the bracket U-bolts). A piece of steel scaffold allows the whole dish to turn slightly under exteme gusts, with the minor annoyance of having to realign afterwards.

Just messing around with this Freesat V8 Finder, moved the dish to Nilesat 101/102 getting 45% signal and breakup, doing a full scan on it now.
Not really interested in this bird but do I need to go tweaking things to get this?

Coax all installed and run to the house, nice and warm now tinkering!
