A Manchester United fan has built up a giant collection of memorabilia valued at over £1 million.

Ray Adler, 50, began hoarding 20 years ago because he didn't believe in pension plans.

He invested all his spare cash in United soccer shirts, programmes and medals.

And his collection is now so vast he has had to build an extension at his semi-detached home to fit it all in, reports The Sun.

One highlight is a rare programme from the 1968 World Club Championship game against Estudiantes in Argentina - worth £12,000.

Another is a brochure from 1902 when United were called Newton Heath and battling to avoid bankruptcy.

Ray, of Trafford, Manchester, also has a letter written by George Best's father when Best was just 17 - telling a reporter he had "high hopes for the lad".
