Doing an MHEG dump with a Nebula DigiTV device is really easy thanks to its great software, unfortunately it is much more complicated with other hardware, like the Nova-T, but it is possible.

If you're a window$ user you can use DVB StreamExplorer's new DSM-CC Object Carousel plug-in to dump the vcg.mhg file from the MHEG PID. This program will work with many DVB-T devices but the full version will set you back £20.

If you're a linux guru you could also use DVBSnoop:

http://dvbsnoop.sourceforge.net/

But if you don't have a Nebula card and you don't want to fork out £20 for DVBSE there is also a FREE solution! It's called DC-DVB and it should work with any device with BDA drivers:

http://www.dsp-worx.de/?n=11

It is a directshow filter so it needs to be used with a host application, you can use Window$ MediaPlayer but I recommend you use ZoomPlayer or MPC.

Use the batch files to register the filter and plug-in then use the ChannelScan program to set-up the codecs and tune the channels.

Save a .dvb file and then open that file with a directshow mediaplayer.

If you want to do an MHEG dump tune to SS / RH / XV, wait about 30 seconds, and then look in the MHPData directory.

Apart from being the only free application with a DSM-CC object carousel parser it also has loads of other great features like networking, and being able to record several channels simultaneously!

If you device does not have a BDA driver, like the Freecom TV stick, you can try using BDA drivers from another vendor. I know these Yamuko drivers work with the Freecom:

Please don't flood DeCoder's developement board with loads of "How do I do RedHot dumps?" style questions, if you have problems I'd be happy to help you out.

Cheers,
Nick

Hi There,

After having a look around some of the posts in this forum I`ve decided it could be time to ask a few questions. And hope that someone can provide me with answers without breaking the rules!

As Nick correctly says DC-DVB can dump the Mheg files required, I then used the BERViewer app to decode the vcg.mhg file(for whatever channel ss tvx etc)
OK! Now the values required after that are lines 21-28? Right. Is there a equation that can be used to decode the pin from the viewer ID?

Another member somewhere within the forum, stated there is an Excell Script and that it could be done on paper. And I really don`t doubt it! I`m afraid my mathematic skills aren`t quite what they used to be though!!

If anyone can provide this info I`d be greatful!
Its one thing to change the PIDs and other values using the freecom jobbie and software to view these channels but it would be a nice change to use my brain for a bit! Even if that does mean asking for a shove in the right direction.

Cheers folks.
