At a conference next week Microsoft is believed to going to say that these are the minimum requirements for the next major version of Windows, right now codenamed LongHorn.

Microsoft is expected to recommend that the "average" Longhorn PC feature a dual-core CPU running at 4 to 6GHz; a minimum of 2 gigs of RAM; up to a terabyte of storage; a 1 Gbit, built-in, Ethernet-wired port and an 802.11g wireless link; and a graphics processor that runs three times faster than those on the market today.

I have a version of longhorn dual booting on my system and LongHorn is slow compared to XP, but only for some things, but I really didn’t expect the final minimum specs to be that high. Hopefully it means there are still some major changes to be made to it before it is released.

Hi,

With all the other news about the version doing serious leasing of programs, the end users will not be happy about it.
Will stick with my XP-Pro, doing all i want here :p

Cheers,
Cor.
