Go back to irc and inform them that NTL use proxy IP addresses, so it is common for more than one user to have that IP address. We have seven users on here who have used that IP at one time or another.

what hapen when more than one member enters the forum using the same pc in an internet caffe?
isnt it possible?
how can they judge members by IPs while there are many who use the same pc?

that's unfair

It is their forum so is their choice as to which security precautions they feel appropriate.

I must say that accessing a forum which you know is on a security drive, by a pc in an internet cafe, is probably asking for your membership to be cancelled, it's far too easy for someone else to acquire your login details.

And if you are using a cafe PC, or even one that is shared, do you really honestly remember to
1)log out at the end of the session ,
2) manually clear the temporary cache
3) clear the content of the start menu ?

4) Check for a keylogger where the keyboard plugs in?

Small, cheap, doesn't need any software to be running on the machine, and records every key pressed, which can then be read back to a text file.

Never trust an internet cafe, even if the place is respectable and trustworthy, the person using the machine before you may well not have been.

Why are people banned if they use more than one username anyway?

Some people forget their password and start a new membership...what is wrong with that???

DOH!!

Maybe that's why I'm always skint... (or it could be all the sat-gear I keep buying...)

What's your feeling about BT Openzone-type public wireless hotspots?

If you forget your password then you use the forgotten password link and the forum sends you a reminder or changes it and sends you a link. I am always slightly suspicious of people with several user name, tends to make me think that they are making provision in case they are banned, for that I normally read troublemaker.

I have a spare one here, so that I can check exactly what non-moderators can and can't view and do etc.

But then I'm a real troublemaker as well... :)
