Hi. In regard to the post below I found out that the B port of my diseqc switch was faulty (no signal loss on A port) and have sent it back for a replacement.

I'm now thinking of buying a monoblock LNB for my 60cm dish so I can receive hotbird and astra 1 on the one dish. However I was wondering if I could combine the monoblock+60cm dish with my 45cm minidish+universal LNB, and attach both dishes to the diseqc switch, to receive 13,19 and 28 East at the same time on my diseqc compatible receiver. Is this possible or will they conflict with eachother?

I've looked into this a little, and the straight answer is probably not - but ultimately depends on your receiver. Certainly for mine it isn't possible - I can choose to drive a monoblock via tonebursts (A & OR diseqc switch (A, B, C and D) - reason being is that they show up in the same menu on the receiver (Samsumg DSR9500). I've also trawled the diseqc spec (http://www.eutelsat.com/satellites/4_5_5.html) to try and establish what might happen and have concluded it could work, IF:

1) The diseqc switch and monoblock use different hex IDs
2) The switch before the monoblock happiliy passes commands on to the monoblock
3) You can control implicitly the sequence of diseqc commands issued - i.e. with a PC based receiver card, since you would issue the switch command before sat selection on the monoblock.

My solution is to buy a second lnb, a 4 way diseqc switch to have:
- 13E/19.2E on same 60cm dish with two lnbs
- 28.8E on minidish with usual one lnb

You can buy special brackets to hold lnb's 6degrees apart (http://www.brymar.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Satellite_Dishes_24.html), or you can lash them together in a DIY fashion:

It also means I have a spare port on the switch for erm, well, another satellite...
