Hi,

my new Dreambox 500S came this evening so i went about setting it up. after reading all the FAQ's and idiot guides i got it to lock and scan all the transponders from my static sky dish.
i then unplugged my sky cable and plugged in the cable from my static satellite dish that has a monoblock pointing to astra 19E and hotbird. can i get this to lock on my dreambox. No.
i chose "2 satellites via DiscEqc A/B".
i then had 1 as astra 19.2E and 2 as hotbird.
when i go to sat find i get
SNR 59%
AGC 82%
BER 8224

and it wont lock. if i change it to 1 as hotbird and 2 as astra i get the same.
can anybody help me?
Im using the gemini 2.6 image (that i flashed via null modem as i cant seem to set up a pc network)

You need to select a correct transponder for that bird using satfind option or whatever...

Try using the four way diseqc setting, still using A and B, with Hotbird as A.

Did you actually try a search? Sometimes the transponder used as default is an analogue one, so it will not lock until you start the search.

wow that was quick.
i tried both your suggestion using the getting the transponder details off lyngsat for a known one (tps star on hotbird) and i still get the same. although for some reason the BER has now doubled

Sounds suspiciously like your dish is mal-aligned.

Can you scan a transponder from that dish default o/p) on your Sky box (SR27500 or 22000)?

BER should be zero.

Try flexing the dish slightly (gently) to see what effect it has (err, maybe when it's light and you have some help...)

What signal strength do you get and what network ID?

LOL sorry, sooooo tired now... gotta get some zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

HI,

cheers for your response. i will have to get the big ladders from my dad's on saturday and take a look.

you mean plug in my monoblock dish into my sky box and try and scan a channel?

its wierd cause i used to use a goldern interstar 8005CI box on the dish and i had no problems with the alignment and strength.

OK, if your setup is working on another receiver, then the alignment should be close to OK. Which side of the monobloc is in the clamp, as this side should work with no diseqC commands at all on one of the satellites.

Have you tried using the 4 way DiseqC commands?

Yes, especially if it's been a while since you used it last...

Eliminate the possibility of a switching problem also, as Rolf suggests above :)

I had a monoblock setup on my 7000 a while back.

To get it to work successfully I think I had to select it to switch via Toneburst

hi,

ive tried plugging my monobloc dish into my sky box and scanning for channels:

11034V on hotbird and 10979V on Astra and it doesnt find any channels. can someone give me the exact settings i need to put in for each LNB?
i may have to get out the ladders and check the dish.

For Astra, choose one of the transponders onThis page(make sure that it is a digital multiplex), the one you mention does not exist. The one for Hotbird should be fine.

Ok ill give it a try.
just remembered that on my interstar i had to set the as mini A and mini B. does this make a difference.
i have tried scanning the 2 sattelites and whilst it was doing it, for some transponders i had 99% AGC and no BER but the SNR still sits at 59% and it wont lock
