That's why I use 36v mate. Takes a bit more to destroy a large tank like motor, and I haven't managed to kill this one yet in 11yrs in open countryside with a 1mtr dish. Save yourself more heartache and get a big motor and a Vbox Likvid.

Thanks but i can't get another 36V as my current living situation prohibits me from having it, they make too much noise so the neighbors are complaining.

Catch22!

What brand and model of dish is that T_G,?

It is an Golden Interstar 1.2 offset dish, I bought it from ebay brand new for less than 50 Euros(!!!). As you can see it is pretty much on top of the house so must be getting a lot of wind pressure. Fitted it Dec 2003 with a 80cm offset, and then one year ago I added the Golden Interstar.

Anyway Likvid, you got the motor now, try it out, maybe after the first anger about the bolts has died you might find it actually works ok for you...

Much much better now when i changed the clamps and bolts all over, it's like a another thing now, pretty stable and solid.

I really recommend you people to change the clamps and put wingnuts on, it is like day and night.

Ok my 2 penneth worth on a Stab HH120, I have had 1 of these for the past 2 years, I can confirm that the gears inside are metal, from memory 1 of the larger cogs is made from brass :(, I took mine apart to grease it up after it had become noisy, my dish is a 1.1m Triax and sits above my gutter in an exposed position, since day 1 the motor has had an amount of play through the gears, to such an extent that in winds the movement even on strong sats causes drop outs on my receivers, I have perservered with my motor as 1) it is quiet when in operation (2) usals is awesome once you have it setup correctly, I have thought of going down the 36v and vbox route but given that I flash images and boxes quite often, I dont want to have to input all the settings again, <<<<<< this is probably the biggest reason for not changing, I know come winter when my dish is moving and pics break up I will be cursing the motor, if only a 36v would be developed with usals I would go down that route.

The stab moving my 1.1 from 45e to 43w is painfully slow, you need to know that you are buying a motor that will have play in its gearing from day 1 and affect your viewing, that said they are easy to setup and will lock sats once you have put your co-ordinates in, when it breaks I will be between a rock and a hard place on my next choice of motor, I had hoped that Stab or 1 of the other Diseqc motor manufacturers would have raised the bar, but alas it would appear not

Nice pictures, Likvid!

Must say, I am surprised at the amount of electronics in there. I had no idea that it had that manu components....

By the way, I used to have a lot of problems with my Dreambox and the motor, it used to do my head in. One day it would work, the other it won't. I strongly suspected the motor, but after I changed the old cable to a good quality one I have motor bliss!

Although this is not a Moteck, here we have a Stab HH100, 4 years old. A friend of mine in Stockholm has modified it like this:

This allows him to carry an 80cm Offset more precise than before with the original brackets.

Nice first post Orinoco, and welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately the hobby industry of satellite means that manufacturers are constantly trying to build something for less to stay in business. New consumer items are always built down to a price, not up to a standard.

There are lot of OEMs of the Moteck and it seems that the Superjack DG120 is the original and the Moteck is just another clone.

I came over a pretty good Moteck clone from the Spanish dish manufacturer Tecatel.

What surprised me was that they have changed the mount completely and made it more stable.

FWIW the Moteck clamps are sh!t (rolled threads, cheap, junky material, cr@p plating) but the motor is great. Very reliable, very quiet. Nylon main drive gear - keeps the noise level down to a whisper.

Bronze (IIRC) drive gear in the STAB - slightly stronger - though maybe not as tough and MUCH noisier. Stab has better sensors (and 2 rather than 1, again IIRC).

Just fit some decent clamps if you go with the Moteck. Don't judge the motor on this ancillary point. The nylon gears also wear very well.

BTW, Japanese steel is the way to go these days. The Europeans just can't beat it at anywhere near the price!

I agree though that a really high quality DiSEqC motor would sell like hot cakes - even at twice the price they are now. I'd certainly have one! :D

And THIS is just too sexy for words.... Mmmmmmm

Shame about the clunky dish mount bracket... maybe that's up for renewal next. :)

Do me one of these in gold anodised alloy for £40 and I'll take one LOL.

Yeah, Japanese and Swedish steel are the best in the world.

Those Chinese dudes bought so much steel from us to build their skyscrapers a year ago that we couldn't export to any other country, they bought everything we had which raised the steel prices to very high levels during a short period.

I have measured the C/N going thru the Moteck, this is really crap, not that it got bad clamps, it even have huge losses, i lost about 0.8dB C/N going thru the Moteck, making BBC and the others on Astra 2D to start pixelize a bit on my dish.

What is this? this is really bad!!
