Hello,

I'm guessing I've a motor problem... Anyway, setting up my Dreambox 500 with a Motek. When using the DB settings to move the dish nothing happens.
I did see a green light on the motor the other night but even thought the OSD says "moving dish" nothing happens outside.

Is there any kind of transit screw? Or is it a DB problem (sorry, configuration issue)?

:(

Does the motor move when you press the buttons on the body?

The ones on the underside with the clear plastic caps (the one on the right seems to be empty)? If so, then no.

The manual button is the one on the bottom left of the F connectors as you look at the motor.

Next to the lnb F connector? Pressed it, nothing. Will check the connections are tight.

It was tight- it's now sheared off... now replaced and retightened.

Any ideas why it doesn't do anything? Should the DB be in any particular mode?

Should there be any lights on the motor? The lefthand button does nothing?

The DB should be in Complex DiseqC mode. What sheared off?

Managed to pull the screw part away from the threaded part... I replaced it (too impatient to wait 24 hrs). I set the motor config to something like "rotor for many satellites"

Yes, that sounds about right, you also need to set the LNB power to 80 or 100

The short of it is that I can't get the dish to move.

The long:

1. Checked the time zone and DB asked if ok to restart: yes.
2. Blank screen. Green light on motor so pressed manual button (on motor) and it moved one click West. Then light off and no more movement.
3. DB back on- eventually.

Can't find the motor power option- not as shown in manual. Every now and then it says "Message: please wait while the motor is turning 58 West"- it doesn't move.

Beginning to think my DB is based on NT4 rather than Linux.....

Any ideas?

I even tried setting the voltage in the Sat config page for Astra 19.8 but made no difference. :(

Can you reset the DB to default settings? Not sure what the command is on the official image, but there must be a way to do it. Then reboot and go through the setup again.

Why would it want to go to 58W, you can't see that satellite and that may be causing the problem.

It is on the "official" image. I haven't changed anything really. I have tried rebooting, gets there eventually. I'll try to find the reset.

Why a green light on the motor once and now nothing?

And why no "motor voltage" setting option as shown in the manual?!!!

Not sure, haven't caught sight of that image since I got the DB, but it would lead me to believe that it is a software setting and not motor problem.

Did Factory Reset (1.06 image). Still useless and offers up a message "motor is turning to xxx" after quitting an option. I agree, looks like a software thing.

It also said "switch: service could not be found" before resetting.

If 1.06 is no good, where can I get a good image (pref one with gbox)?

I give up for tonight! :(

Try loading the gemeni image for the 500, Switch I think means there isnt anything there. Now load the gemeni image with flash wizzard pro, it only takes 2 mins and input your ips again when you do it.You need to find a sat before your db works properly.

Hello,

just popped in while I flash with hyrda/ phoenix 1.08 (that's what I've got at the mo).
Will be back in a while, hopefully (?!) with more success than yesterday.

So far this has made installing Windows 2003 without a floppy drive look like a pre-school exercise!

If that doesn't work, get it from _http://www.i-have-a-dreambox.com/wbb2/hmportal.php - the home of Gemini.

It's in German, but if I can register - I'm sure you can!

Stick with that one image until you get it to work. It's quality.
