Hi all

ive just moved house and need to put my dish back up, only ive totally forgotten how to line my Motor.

My co-ords are.

Lat: 53.67 N
Lon: 2.67 E

please could some kind person remind me what my motor angle and dish angle should be.

i found a couple of calculators and checked the faqs, but i think im having a dumbass friday.

my motor is some incarnation of a SG-2100 Polar mount iirc.

thanks muchly.

Hi nice to see you around again, well it is yonks since I messed around with my setup but as you appear to still be in Chorley it is unlikey that you will need to reset motor angle and dish angle. Find due South satellite which will be 1 deg West for you then swing the whole assembly around to be in line and that is the top of the arc, everything else should fall in to place. If you have unbolted everything there should be weather markings available to set it back up again unless you have been painting your kit.

hi mate.

aye, ive only moved next door. but made the mistake of totally dismantling my setup and there are no weather marks (it was wel sheltered before).

ive found a manual online for what i think is my motor and the angles in there ring a bell.

just need a little patience i think.

:D

According to MultiMap, the latitude of Chorley Lancs is 53.65 degrees north, This is equivalent to an elevation of 36.35 on your motor. So you should set your motor to either of those two figure depending upon the scale marked on the side of the motor.

so my motor must be 53.65 not the 36.35.

that makes sense, cheers

Just had a look in my DiSEqC motor manual and for latitude 53,the elevation angle must be set at 37 and the dish bracket set at 22.4(don't know if its the same for a polar mount?)

yup, thats more or less what i was trying but it doesnt work.

currently on 55 motor and 33 dish, not tried the full arc but 28e to 13e works fine.

We're getting things confused here.

There are two possible figures to set your DiseqC motor, Elevation or Latitude, some motors like the Moteck SG2100 have both setting scales, one on either side, you can use either, but if the motor only has a latitude scale, then you have to use the actual latitude.

The declination setting is for the dish bracket and is better when set by aligning on your nearest Due South satellite, rather than doing it by calculation.
