Hello lad's, i've just set up a motor and am having a problem finding 16 e, which is strange because i get very good quality signals for 13 e and 19.2 e. Does anyone have any idea what my problem might be?? thanks

It isn't as strong as either of the adjacent sats, it is also very close to both, had problems myself at first.

My Satellite Setup
a variety of lnb's (5), dishes (2), diseqc motors (3) and receivers (4).
My Location
East of Cambridge (GB).
I have found that the three strongest fta transponders on that bird that I receive are 11554 V, 28800, 3/4 & 10956 H, 2821, 2/.3 & 12684 H, 2894, 3/4. All over 90% quality, the first being the strongest.
Set your receiver to that transponder and move the dish 0.1 degree either side of nominal and then in 0.1 degree increments thereafter until you pick up a signal.
The footprint for that bird shows a signal level of 50dBw over most of the Uk, so a 60cm dish or larger should be sufficient to get a picture.

I know what my problem was, most of the used transponders for certain satellites werent stored in my reciever, although i just about managed to find 16e on one of the transponders in my reciever, then entered the rest manually to pull in the channels - it was the same for thor and a few others, thanks for your help.

I was going to suggest 11304V as being the strongest one here, but as you have found it , theres not much point.

What receiver do you have that allows certain transponders only ? Is it limited in capacity ?

I have a technomate 5500ci, i'll use thor as an example. in my transponder menu it skips from 11029/2816/ver to 11458/3149/hor , as you can see it misses out most of the strongest transponder's. Yet when i finally forund thor by moving 4 or 5 nudges to the west of sirus, i did an auto scan in my reciever and pulled in channels from the transponders that were missing in my menu . It's was pain a trying to find some sat's because of missing transponder's, but once i found them - the rest was easy.

Although i've sorted out thor ect, i'm still having problems with 16e, it cant be my motor setup, as i'm getting 95 signal quality for hispasat 30 w and even a very strong signal for some turksat transpondors on 42 e......... on 16 e i only seem to be able to get good signals for 11303 and 11093 the rest are a no go, which is a shame as theres some good football feed's available.

p.s thor, hotbird, 19.2 e, 28 e are all 90 - 100 signal quality aswell.
