Motor problem

Hi,

During last week’s storms, my dish was blown onto the near-by wall. I have manually put it back in the previous position, but I am unable to move it with my disecq motor.

One can hear it trying to move it, but the movement is not happening. I assume therefore that the motor is not burn-out and that the problem might lay elsewhere. The connections are as they were – receiver-motor and motor-lnb.

Any ideas?

you may have had your gearing stripped for you.
can you get inside it to take a look ?

I do not dare look inside it, as I would probably make things worse (kill or injure it fatally).

You should look it may just be jammed or the teeth have skipped.

Don't know if you can buy spares but don't see why not!

As Gameboy says - It may be just that the drive has slipped on the shaft
and just needs a gentle tap back into position.
After all it's not moving the dish so what have you got to lose.
Let us know the outcome.

Just an update on my motor problem ... according to the engineer, it cannot be repaired. He took it off, and now I hope that good people of satelliteshop.co.uk will replace it with the new one. Thank you very much for your ideas.

Are you going to set it up yourself or get the engineer to do it?

Might be worth a try if your mount and dish aren't damaged, did you keep a note of the inclination settings on the old motor?

Hmmm, somebody could make a fortune out of repairing those suckers. What's the worst that could have happened? As you say, a few stripped teeth and maybe a bent shaft.

Having said that, somebody could make an even bigger fortune out of writing them off as scrap...

Ahhh, a truly disposable society.
